Re: Birthday Celebrations / Tavern on the Green - 15 years ago
Tavern on the Green is not a good choice. The service or the food is not worth the cost, although the location in the park is good. If you want to visit there, go for a drink. Across the street from TOTG is Cafe des Artistes which has better food, service and has a great interior. Look at:by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Why are cab drivers always in a hurry? - 15 years ago
Most of the fare is determined by the distance traveled. So the faster the driver can get you to that destination, the faster he can get a new fare.by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: apples and winter - 15 years ago
No, the Big Apple has nothing to do with apple growing, although upstate New York does produce some very good apples. The term comes from jazz musicians--there are conflicting opinions about the origin. The snow can be as early as November, picks up in December and is the most in January and February but extends into March. If you come in the winter months, there will be about a 20 percent chanceby nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Common Charges/maintenance - 15 years ago
As already stated, the common charges for a condominium do not include real estate tax because you own you apartment as opposed to a cooperative apartment where you own shares in the cooperative corporation. For a cooperative, there will be a tax deduction for your share of the the real estate taxes on the whole building and the interest on the "underlying" mortgage on the building, thaby nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Fastest route from Midtown to Tribeca? - 15 years ago
Let me preface this answer by saying driving in Manhattan at noon on a weekday is not going to be fast by I suggest that you go west on 41 Street, make a left turn on 9 Avenue. When you get to 14 Street bear slightly left onto Hudson Street. Make a right on Leroy Street and then a left on West Street--one block and you are there.by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: relocation - 15 years ago
Roosevelt Island is an easy commute by subway to near the Time Warner Center and it is not dangerous. However, it is a bit isolated and is not the "Manhattan experience." There are many large dogs that live in apartments in Manhattan and they are being walked on the streets and parks of Manhattan on a regular basis.by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :
