Moving to NYC this fall. Husband will be working near Time Warner Center. We have 2 big dogs and don't want to go over $5000/month in rent. A couple of buildings on Roosevelt Island look nice, and seem like it would be easy to walk the pups, but we've heard that the island is dangerous. Any thoughts regarding safety and commute?

Roosevelt Island is an easy commute by subway to near the Time Warner Center and it is not dangerous. However, it is a bit isolated and is not the "Manhattan experience." There are many large dogs that live in apartments in Manhattan and they are being walked on the streets and parks of Manhattan on a regular basis.
