i am coming to new York for 2 months and found an apartment on Roosevelt island but i want to know how safe is the commute to midtown Manhattan? is the f train safe at night and is walking around the island ok? i hear its really quiet and empty, so i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing when it comes to nighttime safety. is the island a good place to live in general?

Roosevelt Island is safe as well as the F train. It is a bit quit on Roosevelt Island but if you want excitement, you can be in Manhattan in a few minutes.
