A taxi from JFK to anywhere in Manhattan is $45 fixed fare plus about $4 toll plus tip. It will take about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the day and time of day.by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Parking a moving truck in Manhattan - 16 years ago
You can double park as long as you are not blocking traffic and someone is with the truck at all times. Commercial moving companies do this all the time. I don't know where you are coming from but you have to be careful about not driving on parkways that don't allow vehicles with commercial plates which includes the Henry Hudson Parkway and the FDR Drive. Also some avenues do not allowby nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: W89th and Columbus - 16 years ago
I have lived on West End Avenue and 93 Street for over 20 years which is a short distance from the apartment in question and I have good friends who own a brownstone on W 87 Street. So I know this neighborhood. It is a safe neighborhood and would not be concerned about coming home in the evening. There are many bars in the 80s on Columbus and Amsterdam, a good portion of which are populated by inby nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Woodbury Common - 16 years ago
The is no "tax free" shopping in New York. When you leave you don't get the sales tax (which is about 8 percent) refunded. If you are interested in designer clothing a merchandise, Woodbury Common has some real bargains but you will use up one of your days in New York.by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Greyhound Bus to Richmond - 16 years ago
Greyhound buses are more comfortable and safer than the "Chinese" buses but somewhat more expensive. You can also fly direct form JFK to Richmond on JetBlue or Delta airlines. The flight takes about one and one-half hours.by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: how can i find new yorkers married in 1968? - 16 years ago
How much time do you have and do you live in NYC? You could place ads in some of the local neighborhood papers. They don't cost much and you can get a combination of a few papers. BTW, my wife and I were married in 1969 but I guess that's a "close but no cigar."by nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Peter Cooper Village/ Stuy Town - 16 years ago
What size and a monthly rent are you saying that is “too good to be true?" Both of these complexes have been bought by new owners and they are trying to move the rents to market level. What you say may be too good to be true may be a lot more than the individual who moved out of the apartment that you are going to rent but still a good deal. It is not the "hottest" area of Manhattaby nyc10025 - Ask a New Yorker :
