Re: what should I do with my german friends when they come? - 17 years ago
For sure take them on a cruise around Manhattan. Take them to the Neue Gallery on 86th - it's all German and Austrian art. And here's a web site for all things German in NYC. And, break out the lederhosen—it’s time to celebrate Oktoberfest in NYC. 1. Zum Schneider From October 1 through 16, owner Sylvester Schneider serves special German dishes, imports a couple of seasonal breby livetotravel - Ask a New Yorker :

Red - the only person who will watch out for your interests in the NYC real estate game is the lawyer you retain yourself. If you are going to lay out $1000 and make an offer, now is the time to get an attorney.by livetotravel - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Racism in New York > Please read - 17 years ago
Well, I for one am continually saddened when I read these types of reports. I have worked the better part of my adult life in both personal and professional ways to combat hate and racism. But I personally believe it is as alive and well today as it was in the 50's and 60's, it just has taken on different dimensions and faces. I am married to a West Indian woman - and I could tell yoby livetotravel - Ask a New Yorker :

first of all an on-line expert is anyone with an opinion ;-) The reality is that people who visit NYC frequently often times have a better insight into those topics that forum posters most frequently inquire about. For instance, I live in Brooklyn. What the hell do I know about staying in hotel in mid-town Manhattan that will cost less than $200/night. Answer: absolutlely nothing. Very nice feature - NYC's Secret (and unaccessable) Garden. I was in the Arts Club building a couple of years ago and it's magnificent. Some of our most amazing architecture stands in the blocks immediately off of Gramercy Park.by livetotravel - Ask a New Yorker :

First, thank your lucky stars that you couldn't get through to Mesa Grill - it has seen better days. Check out my favorite new web site - You can search by neighborhood, it has videos and liats all the reviews - I swear by it. I've eaten at Babbo and the Spotted Pig recently as well as at Vong (a JG's restuarant), I also loved The Tasting Room, Blue Fin and Il Buco.by livetotravel - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Thoughts on the new Oliver Stone movie"World Trade Towers"??? - 17 years ago
If Stone had been smart, he'd have recruited brilliant stage actors for the parts not "celebs.' To tell you the truth Nic Cage, both the actor and the person, creeps me out. I will not see the movie because he's in it. Otherwise I have no fear of reliving that time - and I had one friend who died and I witnessed the collapse of the second tower.by livetotravel - Ask a New Yorker :

Sure beats walking from Brooklyn (I've done that too many times in the last 6 years to underestimate it!)
