Re: mobile phones - 17 years ago
When I arrived in NYC in 2005, I realized no network was available to my mobile phone! Back home, I checked with my provider and they had forgotten to activate roaming options for the new number I had gotten a few days prior to my trip. Tsss... Anyway, I went to the Cingular Wireless shop on 42nd St / 5th Ave and bought the cheapest PayAsYouGo plan for my holiday. No problem! Should the roaminby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Thanks for sharing ! Lots of fun, for sure. I particularly love picture IMG_0016A of the Empire State Building and IMG_0199 of the Chrysler Building. Can you tell me what is the sculpture on picture IMG_0163 and on which rooftop you where to take the other pictures of the ESB ? Thanksby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

The best thing to do is to have your own website where you can upload your pictures and link to them from the message you post here. If you have many, or if they're big, I'd recommend linking to the files instead of displaying them, to avoid spoiling the forum layout and consuming AANY's bandwidth. Normally your ISP offers some space for web pages hosting which is linked to yourby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Thanks for the report. You sure had a great time! Though I'm not that interested in shopping, you just got me more impatient to go back to NYC. Well, enough with the teaser text. Wouldn't you post a few pictures for dessert now?by liofo - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: The Web Camera , Mell and Me! Sunday 26th. - 17 years ago
Glad you like the webcam pictures. Sorry you missed each other at the Rainbow Grill. I find it cool that people who get to know each other via a website forum end up meeting in real life. I experienced that here in Europe with people whom I had met on a web forum and later a dozen of us decided to travel and meet in France, then the year after we met in Belgium, then in Switzerland. Very pleasby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam - 17 years ago
A big problem is that most of the spam come from other continents where it is allowed and we have no influence on it. Since they passed laws against spam in the European Union, Australia and Northern America, spam produced in our countries have dramatically dropped but it all comes from Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe now.by liofo - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: What do you think of the New video profile on homepage? - 17 years ago
Isn't it the guy who appeared in the first show? A Video Profile Archive would be useful so we can view again previous shows, like with the Überchic and NYer of the month. I enjoy those videos, listening to New Yorkers talking about what they like or experiment. Thank you for all the time you put in doing that for us.by liofo - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Tourism - 17 years ago
I don't know if they like us or not, but there is a problem with many tourists whether in NYC or any other place in the world. For example, when they come to my country (Belgium), here is what I don't like with many of them : - They are always in the way, especially at peak/rush hours. - They stand in the middle of the street, blocking the traffic, because it's the right distanby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: New Yorkers #1 in Friendliness(Today Show) - 17 years ago
A paper here in Belgium recently published an article about the study Brady mentioned. I was happy with that because everytime I praise New York in a conversation, people look at me as if I were out of my mind (of course, THEY have never been to NYC). It's a pity they're getting a picture of it by watching TV mostly. They think there is crime on each street corner at every minute, thatby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Helicopter tour New York ??!! - 17 years ago
I confirm the service is excellent. I booked online prior to our trip last September and everything went fine. I chose the "Big Apple" tour from the VIP Heliport near the Jacob Javits Center. A few things I remind: you must confirm your participation 24 hours in advance (I forgot to do so but they didn't spank me though and I took the flight I had booked), leave all unnecessary iteby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Some pics for you - 17 years ago
Was in NYC - first time - last September and amazed by the city. I really fell in love with it but never found the time to write a report or publish my pictures. So here is the occasion to post a few ones (1024x768 JPEG) which you can use as wallpaper for your desktop as I do. You never know, if you want a picture of something, ask for it, I may have something... Bryant Park Guggenheim Muby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: The Best Time to Vist - 17 years ago
I went to NYC last September (19-28) and the weather was nice. Not too hot, not too wet. Perfect to enjoy long walks on avenues and in parks in order to observe how locals live ;-) Actually, the only suffocating places I went were some metro stations. What causes this ? I never had that in other cities with underground trains.by liofo - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: rudeness - 18 years ago
When I spent my holiday in NYC last September (I'm from Belgium), I never had the feeling that people were rude. In fact, I was stunned to see how friendly and helpful New-Yorkers were, whether in a store or in a public service, or just on the street. And I spent time in several boroughs and had the opportunity to talk to various kinds of people. I even thought that shop owners in my countryby liofo - Ask a New Yorker :
