YAY! i leave on thursday. ( in 1 1/2 days)....i am trying to convince my 14 yr old son to go with me, but he is resisting. he has been once before , briefly, but he is insisting he is not interested in going again. mainly because he is not at all a shopper, and despises all the walking.... so i dunno.... i most likely will be going all by myself again. and no... i have never walked across theby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

On April 23rd, I am going to NEW YORK CITY!!! and I am going at it alone, again. I went for 3 days, by myself, in December. I am itching to go back so off I will go. But last time it was Christmas, so there was so much to see and so much shopping to be done. this time I am kinda worried I won't know what to do with myself.... I know certain areas on NYC well, so I plan on checking out areasby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

ok... since i had SOOO much fun the last time i went to NYC by myself.... i think i am going to do again in april. i have a major itch to go again, but of course no one can go with me. so rather than deny myself, i will got at it alone, again. my last visit i had a mission tho- christmas shopping. this time i want to go just to go. so i am getting nervous that it won't be as fun this time.by purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
hop on hop off buses.....???? - 15 years ago
hi! i have been to new york many times, and i am always "harrassed" by the people trying to get me to go on those big red hop on hop off buses. usually i have other plans and have never taken one of these buses.... but also because i don't really understand what the deal is with them. who has done this? and is it worth it? what exactly do you do?by purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

hi.... i am not a new yorker, but i visit there a few times a year. i have never been to dave & busters - hear it is always packed, but fun. never been to mars 2112, but i have been to jekyll & hyde's..... altho the place is entertaining, and fun, the food is not all that great, they also have a small menu. the problem i have with that place is THEY OUR OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE!!!by purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Comedy Clubs NYC - 15 years ago
i am not a new yorker, but i do visit the amazing city quite often. one of my favorite parts of visiting NYC is going to the comedy clubs. my favorite place is CAROLINE'S. they are located pretty much right in times square. www.Carolines.com i have also been to Dangerfield's, not a bad place. but for all clubs it all really matters who the comics are. sometimes you get a good show, sby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Visiting New York in February - Weather and Shopping - 15 years ago
hi.... i will try to help you. altho i am not from NYC, i do visit quite a bit, and i just visited there a little over a week ago and it was FREEZING!!!! it will be cold in february. i wore basically just layers of warm clothes. fleece is nice, along with a some sort of wind breaker. but don't go to crazy because once you are inside shopping, you will be sweating and will want to peel someby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Should I or shouldn't I? - 15 years ago
ya know i never even thought to go sit at a bar to warm up, probably because i don't drink, but that does sound nice. i guess i always just went back to my room so i could kick off my shoes for a bit and plus i always had shopping bags that i wanted to put in my room. i love to sit and chat with actual new yorkers. they always have such great stories about the city.by purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

OK..... i have thought about it all weekend. and i have decided that i AM definitely going to take my solo trip to NYC . and i must saying that being bullied into doing it has helped. i am taking a bus (it is a 3 hr ride), so that won't be too bad. but i do kinda still "worry" about meals. i am not shy.... but i am not a great conversation starter so i don't meet people all tby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

In my town on christmas day.... it is DEAD! nothing is open, no traffic, no people, NOTHING!!! thats another reason why we don't wanna be here for the holiday. Lorelai82..... i just stayed at the milford plaza for 2 nights (and have stayed there before) in july. i know that hotel has a bad wrap on this forum but i hafta say i like it there. the location is amazing and i have never had anything to complain about. i feel extremely safe there. if you stay at this hotel with no real high expectations it will be fine. it by all means is NOT a fancy hotel.by purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
