Subway question.... - 15 years ago
Hi. I need to know how to get to Chinatown (canal st) from Times square. The Times square subway station I want to leave from is the one across the big CHASE building on W 42ND ST & 7TH AVE. I am getting pretty good at getting around NYC walking around, but I have yet to figure out the subway system. So if you could tell me how to get to canal st in as much detail from this station that wouldby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: knockoff purses - 16 years ago
Ok, this might make me seem like an idiot, but.... Why is it illegal to sell the "knock off" bags? Is it illegal to own a "knock off bag"? If you buy one canal st is that bad? I have been to canal st and have been pestered to "come see inside", but i really have no interest. but in may i will be visiting NYC with a friend who would LOVE to shop for "knock offsby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Sunday in NYC - 16 years ago
HI, I am not a new yorker but I visit quite often. If you have never been to chinatown it is worth checking it out. You have to experience it at least once. But if you visit on a sunday expect it to be crazy crowded. More so in the warmer weather. I went not that long ago just for a sunday and we got there early. Not a lot of shops are open that early so just be aware if you plan on doing earlby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: The Pennsylvania Hotel - 16 years ago
ok, on one of my very first visits to NYC i stayed at the pennsylvania hotel for 2 nights. when you first walk in it looks amazing. the lobby is great. as soon as you get off the elevators and are in the room hallways you realize right away that the place is a dump. it is so old and dirty. looks like they never clean there. our room was so small - 2 twin beds - and the beds were so uncomfortableby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

I need a friend in New york - 16 years ago
I love New York City! I have visited enough times to where as of now I feel like a New Yorker..... I visit a few times a year if I can, and I am kinda burnt out from doing the typical tourist thing everytime I am there. Even tho I am a tourist, and still do find that stuff fun ( the wax museum, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc... ) I would rather see and do stuff actual new yorkers do, but Iby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :

I am siting here totally bored really doing nothing special on my computer caz there is nothing to do here! I day dream all the time about being in new york caz I know that there it is impossible to be bored. You can leave the house at 2am and go find a place to eat. Everything around here is closed at 9pm. ARHHH. And being the extreme night owl that I am, that is very frusterating. It is such aby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: pennsylvania hotel on 33rd - 16 years ago
I stayed at the Pennsylvania hotel years ago my first over night trip to NYC. You pull up to the hotel and you are very impressed. The lobby as well is very impressive. big, pretty fancy, nice. We waited in line over 1 1/2 hrs to check in and it was very annoying. But we finally got our room key, got on the elevator and went to our room and there entire time we were less and less impressed. I am in love with New York City. The first time I visited (about 4 years ago)... I went with some friend's to go see Conan O'Brien. I remember when I stepped out of the car and was finally walking the streets of Manhattan, I instantly felt like I was "home". I truly believe I was meant to live in New York City. I go as often as I can, about 2-3 times a year, (that's aboutby purpleplum - Ask a New Yorker :
