you won't find that many hairdressers down there...does it have to be in that neighborhood?by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

short haircuts for girls - 13 years ago
just wanted to post something about a small salon called "crops for girls" on the lower east side on orchard st... it's a great place to go if you have short hair or want to get your hair cut from long to short. Only one guy works there, and he does an awesome job with cutting short hair. (I think the salon may be moving soon...not sure...but as I write this it's on orchaby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: "Groupon" - 13 years ago
OK, that last post was over a year ago and I still love the groupon. Got one the other day to a really cool design-your-own-handbag place, online. Just thought I'd share what it is because I think they have really cute stuff: The groupon was that you paid $38 for $80 worth of stuff from this place, and free shipping too.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: restaurants good for vegans AND non-vegans/vegetarians alike - 14 years ago
Hangawi was really good, actually. I wasn't searching the vegan menu for something I could "settle" for, there were several tasty-sounding options. I got vegetable dumplings to start and a sweet and sour mushroom dish with rice for my main course. It was good. And, the tofu cheesecake actually tasted like regular cheesecake. The place was packed! Make a reservation. You haveby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

restaurants good for vegans AND non-vegans/vegetarians alike - 14 years ago
ok, I have this friend who is vegan, and I'm not at all vegan, not at all even vegetarian. It's very hard to find somewhere to go where we can both have something we like. Any ideas? I found one place, The Elephant on E. 1st. St, but they are closed for renovations this week! I need another idea. I don't want to eat at a place that's designed all for vegans. Re: lga - 14 years ago
very easy! just get in a cab and go. Start out on the east side if possible, it'll be a little faster. The cab will cost around $30, I'd say.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Best View of New York City ?? - 14 years ago
oh, boy, I didn't actually end up going. My plan was to go with a bunch of volcano-stranded Brits who I've had over here (work colleagues). But, they all hopped on a plane to Rome yesterday evening so I didn't go. I have no idea how they all made out when they got to Rome!by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: A good bus tour? - 14 years ago
I just did the "sex and the city" bus tour with a couple friends who were in town and who really wanted to do that. I've only seen the show a couple times but they are big fans and loved it. It's sort of a specialized bus tour, of course, but in case that one is an option, it got great reviews from my two friends. Even for me, a non-fan, it was OK.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: cheap ugg boots? - 14 years ago
personally, I would not advise a visitor to NYC to waste their time going to woodbury commons. outlet malls in general aren't that great, in my opinion, and you can get deals just as good or better at other places in they city without chasing all the way to woodbury commons.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Going to NY for Spring - food/night suggestions? - 14 years ago
for a good place to eat that is fun and reasonably priced, try Sea in the meatpacking district: Be sure to go walk along the highline before you go there. It's right across the street. another place to go (for music, not a restaurant) that is a lot of fun is the Fat Black Pussycat in the village.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
