There's this new thing called "groupon", you can sign up for the daily email.
Each day you get an email with some kind of offer, for instance, a $25 gift certificate to Randall's Island and you pay $10 for it, or $10 for a $30 gift certificate to a restaurant, etc. Each offer needs a set number of people who want to buy it. If enough people buy it, everyone who said they are interested in it will get the deal. If not enough people go for the offer, no one gets it.
I thought this was a good idea and maybe someone here would be interested in it!

OK, that last post was over a year ago and I still love the groupon. Got one the other day to a really cool design-your-own-handbag place, online. Just thought I'd share what it is because I think they have really cute stuff:
