Re: Steak Restaurant - 14 years ago
if anyone is looking for a "steakhouse" that does not have the usual steakhouse-atmosphere and feel, try Dylan Prime in Tribeca on Laight St. I went there last night and the food was v. good (beef wellington!).by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Cupcake Wars!!! - 14 years ago
i just tried crumbs last week for the first time and I think they are a lot better than magnolia, which I don't understand the hype about. the simple/plain cupcakes from crumbs were DELICIOUS. I wish I didn't even try them, because now i'll want them all the time and they have many shops around town so I'll have all kinds of opportunity to chow on these cupcakes.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: City hall marriage - 14 years ago
Oracle is right. I got married at city hall-brooklyn, and you can just ask any person standing around to be the witness. You will need them for about one minute, to sign their name on a paper that they are your witness. It's not a big deal. congratulations.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Where to hire a convertible Mustang to drive to Woodbury Commons - 14 years ago
you realize it's going to be quite cold for a convertible car ride on the freeway in March, right? you could get yourself to Laguardia airport in a cab and rent from there, at least you wouldn't have to fight the city traffic. I'd definately check with any of the car rental places to be sure they'll actually have a convertible mustang for you. Actually, I'd say you wouby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: wallmarkt - 14 years ago
why do you want to go to walmart so badly? I can't imagine why you'd want to bother to take a bus from NYC to travel to NJ to go to Walmart. What are you looking for?by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Supermarker Prices - 14 years ago
I do my shopping in Queens, not manhattan (manhattan will be a bit more, I'm sure) but I pay about $2 for a dozen eggs, $3-4 for a loaf of bread for sandwiches/toast, milk about $2 for a half gallon (non-organic), beer can vary but $7-10 for a six pack. Boneless skinless chicken breast about $5 per pound.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: activities in Brooklyn - 14 years ago

Re: rent a bike - 14 years ago
you really can go ALL OVER the city if you get a bike. I'd maybe start down by battery park and go up the west side and up to central park.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
sex and the city bus tour - 14 years ago
Has anyone ever done the sex and the city bus tour? I live here in nyc...but I have a couple friends visiting soon, and they absolutely insist on doing this tour. I never really watched the show (they want me to watch all kinds of dvds of the show so I'm ready for the tour...I don't think so). It's a little corny, maybe, but is it OK? A horrible way to spend a few hours, or isby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

The sidewalk is accessible on the New Jersey side from Hudson Terrace, where a gate open in daytime and evening allows pedestrians and bikes to pass. (from wikipedia)by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Work for Keep in hostels? - 14 years ago
I don't think I've ever seen that question asked here before...if you find any who would let you work instead of pay, be sure to come back and let us know. I'd be curious if you find any. My guess is you won't, but I really don't know much about hostels.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Diamond district - 14 years ago
Miligree Jewelers 69 W. 47th St. someone very very very nice just got me some diamond studs here and they appraised for quite a bit more than that nice person paid, so this place is alright it seems! I've been to this appraiser twice, also good and reasonable prices: gemological appraisal laboratory of america, 10 w. 47th St 2nd fl, 212-382-2888.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: taxis - 14 years ago
you won't have trouble getting a taxi, just go outside and hail one. go to the curb, put your arm up in the air, and soon you will have a taxi beside you. The thing is, six of you probably won't fit in one taxi so you may need to split the group in two and get two taxis. Why not just get on the 4,5, or 6 train, which will be just a short walk away, and take it down to grand central aby Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Roman Polanski - 14 years ago
I love how the one guy calls it a "youthful error" that polanski made. He's 76 now, and it happened 32 years ago, that makes him, what, 44 years old at the time? That's not exactly youthful. I'm not surprised Woody Allen is so stupefied. I'm stupefied that this is even a question, really, if he should pay for this crime or not.by Kelly - Ask a New Yorker :

Roman Polanski - 14 years ago
am I the only one who cannot understand why people seem to think it is so awful that the US is going after Roman Polanski? I watch this news and I cannot understand people defending him. I guess I don't know the whole story, but he did plead guilty to having sex with a 13 year old CHILD, did he not? Why do people think this should just be let go? I don't get it.
