I know how much you love the Four Seasons, so The Modern must be fantastic! Lucky girl! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thankfully, that's an easy one. It's the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. The gold building at the top (it's the SW corner) is the Crown Building (very beautiful....google it). Going clockwise, the next corner building is Bergdorf Goodman, the next is Louis Vuitton (which you really can't see from above), and the last is Tiffany's.

There's not one standard size elevator, you'd have to check each building. Additionally, some service elevators might be larger. Then again, if the art doesn't fit, you can hire a hoisting company to remove a window frame and haul the thing up the side of the building.

I really like Green Table, which is in Chelsea Market. It's a casual place with really good food. Here's their menu:
Pappardella is a favorite Italian, on the upper west side. Excellent food for carnivores, and excellent pasta:
And if your friends can stand ONE dinner without meat, you must try NYC's best vegan restaurant, Blossom.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Here's a photo from The Post of generators that were providing power to press tents at the marathon. These generators can provide power to 400 homes.
I'm sorry the mayor took so long to change his mind, and so many runners and their families lost travel money. But this year's race had to be canceled.

Happy to still have power here, I hope it stays that way through the coming storm. I feel sorry for tourists who are stuck in their hotel rooms -- no transportation and everything's closed.

I wish you a lot of luck! How did you make out last year for restaurants for your group? Aside from national chains and fast-food outlets, it's difficult to just walk into a place with that large a group.
Similarly, while there are cute little shops and great art galleries throughout the Village and Chelsea, most will not look kindly on a big group of kids entering at the same time.

You can walk up Broadway from Bowling Green all the way up to Inwood at the Northern tip of Manhattan.
"A Walk Up Broadway," with architectural historian Barry Lewis and David Hartman, is unfortunately only available on VHS. But if you've got a way to view it, I highly recommend this informative and entertaining video tour.

At first I was annoyed that the ugly supporting scaffolding for this installation covered up the statue and ruined the view of Columbus Circle. However, it's only a temporary installation, and the statue itself is going to be restored. So I've changed my mind, and now I can't wait to go see it.
Here's the link for anyone else interested. Tickets are free but must be res

Your best bet is to buy the 7-day unlimited-ride cards (you'll each need your own), and then a pay-as-you-go card, which can be loaded up with almost any denomination. The pay-as-you-go cards can be shared by both of you, you just swipe and then pass the card back to the next person. Free transfers are automatically added and deducted.
If you buy both kinds of cards at the same time, be

Ring it just after the doors close on the stop just before yours, or as you see your stop coming up ahead. If you aren't sure or can't see the street signs, ask the driver or anyone on the bus to let you know when you get to your stop.

There are two options on Amtrak. The Northeast Regional service, which takes 3.5 to 4 hours, and the Acela, which takes less than 3 hours and costs about $100 more each way. If you already know your schedule, you're better off buying your tickets sooner, as the prices go up nearer the date.

Statistically, it's very safe. I would still stick to busy streets rather than deserted side streets. And always be aware of who's around you. I go home alone at all hours, and have never had a problem <knock wood!>, but several times I've gotten into a taxi and told the driver I thought someone was following me, and asked him to take me down the block and wait until I got

Many churches separate the large groups of tourists so they don't interfere with the religious services. But tourists arrive by the busload, so arrangements are made to sit them in separate sections, usually up in the balcony. And some smaller churches are not welcoming to tourists at all.
However, the Brooklyn Tabernacle does welcome visitors, and it's easy to get to by subway. N
