Re: NYC Wedding, Recommended bar near Central Park/Chelsea Pier - 13 years ago
I stayed in the UWS on my last trip and passed Sarabeth's on Amsterdam several times. I am pretty sure it had a patio with tables dressed in white out front. Below is a link with things that are important to note -hours, bar, good for groups or not, etc. Ah! Memory served me right. Here it is as pretty as I remembered itby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

7:00 is not late in the spring or summer, and it is still daylight out. The begging of May it is almost 8:00 before it sets and the end of May is about 8:30. On a cold winter day, it's a different story.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

I see several advantages to living in Manhattan. Sleeping in longer or having time to exercise in the morning. Lunch at your apartment - big savings Nap at lunch - priceless Getting home fast enough to change from work clothes and go play in the city.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

I was at my favorite pub on Saturday and my bartender was from The Bronx. I told him I was coming in March and asked for some ideas for my trip. He mentioned: The Transit Museum Wave Hill Brooklyn Museum and hmmm Brendan if you have come to check AANY'er out please refresh my memory as too the several other tidbits you threw at me.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

I would look this list over which will tell you where you can go if you are under 21. If it was me I would go to SOB (Sounds of Brasil). I have not been but would like to check it out when I am in NY in Juneby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Looking for a great Diner in Manhattan - 13 years ago
If you find yourself on the UWS I like EJ's on Amsterdam and about 81st. I have only had breakfast and lunch there. Service was good as was the food. I can't say great because I always feel diners serve good food, never great.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: help! how safe is 110th street at 5th avenue? - 13 years ago
Melissa, love your first 3 words, and your attitude. You don't really need a mean face, just a face that shows you are paying attention to where you are and what is going on around you. Not a face that shows you are thinking about work, what to make for dinner, etc.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Forgot about that nice little video. Makes me want to go to the beach now. So, did those dudes totally not answer you regarding the sculptures, or did they give an ignorant answer not worth film time? Loved the comedian at the end! Thanks Kraftby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Cosmetics and Clothes - 13 years ago
I just remembered a friend had her bridesmaids all shop at J.Crew. They all got similar dresses in different colors. They were classic and gorgeous. There is one at 10 Columbus Circle. Of course a little black dress is always nice. Here is there huge selection of just "little black dresses" I like how you can shop day, evening, etc.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: When is the safest times to ride the subway and city buses? - 13 years ago
As a visitor to NYC I have rode the bus and subway at all times of day and night. I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe, and I don't just ride around Manhattan.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Good areas for Musicians to live? How do I start? - 13 years ago
My company always uses craigslist, but also Monster. A friend of ours who is your age, just got a job at a sandwich shop by memorizing the menu before his interview. He said the incredulous looks from other applying was so hysterical. It's what you gotta do in the market. Good luck to you kiddo.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: NYC Weather - 13 years ago
Love the photos and how do you post them? Oracle - is the snow past your window yet? Denver has had 12.5" since October, really I think its less, but that's what the weather gal says. The mountains meantime have so much snow that it looks like whipped cream frosting when I look at them from my dining room window. I promise no snow in June and hopefully no rain alsoby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: WLAN / free internet in Manhattan - 13 years ago
I am selfish with my wifi,no share with the neighbors. Know someone who's bank account was cleaned out that way. We used wireless while hanging out on the center of Broadway on the UWS near West 76th.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Cosmetics and Clothes - 13 years ago
For makeup, I would recommend Sephora or Macy*s. You can set appts with both. There are Sephora's all over. Where are you staying so we can better help in the dress dept. I popped in this place for vintage while staying on the upper west side awhile back. NOthing to knock my socks off, but I was not looking for special occasion, but it was fun.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
