Re: Bruce - 15 years ago
Ah, here is where the "note" came from and you heard it live. BRUCE OFFERS TRIBUTE TO TIM RUSSERT IN CARDIFF From the stage at Cardiff Millennium Dome Stadium: Saturday June 14. Introduction before "Thunder Road" "I'd like to do this tonight for a long time friend of the E Street Band who passed away suddenly. "Tim Russert was an important unreplaby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Bruce - 15 years ago
I read on a blog that Bruce played Thunder Road at his Cardiff concert as a tribute to Tim Russert. I am watching a tribute Tom Brokaw is doing on Meet The Press, and it is ending with Thunder Road and a photo montage. Tim was as big a fan as you are of The Boss. Tom also read a note from Bruce that said he will "miss that big smiling face in the front row". Google the two namesby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Tom Brokaw is hosting a wonderful memorial as I type. Tears have come to my eyes more than once. Especially when Tom broke down for a bit. What a loss for all of us, but most especially for his family, and his Dad.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Congratulations on the wedding vows! What a whirlwind trip! Loved reading your post. So glad you were able to plan through the site. Besides the wedding (obvious) what was your favorite day, or thing you did?by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Soho shops - 15 years ago
Word is you can check your bags in the basement at Macy's while you shop (cough, or sight see). Specialized shops are generally called boutiques. As for Miss Liberty. Love her, love looking at her, have no interest in climbing up to the top of her. Line is too long, and the view of her looking up is much nicer, in my opinion.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Weight Affect Love Life? - 15 years ago
Well sweetie, this is not really the place for your thread.....but as an overweight adult I will answer. Lose the weight now while you can EASILY do it. Just move more, eat less. Women can be "curvy" and that is what I was when I was a "bit" overweight meeting my then thin husband. I don't think guys look at other guys as being curvy, it's just over weight.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: smoking in NYC - 15 years ago
On vacation in Michigan at the moment. It's very strange to walk into a bar or restaurant and smell cig smoke. Glad my state Colorado, New York, and California make it so I don't have to smell it. What other states are smoke free?by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

I have yet to see the zoo at Central Park, but I highly recommend Turtle Pond in Central Park. Google Images for Turtle Pond too. Your kids will love it. My then 18yr old daughter and I enjoyed it very much. Enjoy your trip, and make sure you and your hubby take the loft, and the kids get the sofa bed!by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: what do neworkers when the weather is hot? - 15 years ago
We were there last June Mell. I work downtown in Denver, before we went to NY, I would wear the shoes I wanted to take to NY and at lunch walk around downtown at a fast clip to see how they rated. Try not to wear the same shoes 2 days in a row. The best thing to do though is to pick up Blister Block by Band-Aid. Hop over to a Duanne Reed for it. LOL!!! Mell, I hope Steve does realize he has the girl of his dreams Have a great time. Bruce is not playing in my neck of the woods otherwise I would go just for Steve I loved the speech he made for his induction to the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Hi SK!!!! Here is the website for Miss Marjorie. The Morris-Jumel Mansion is just across the street, and what a great piece of American history it is. Though they are all a private residence, Sylvan Terrace is nearby too, and worth a peak. There happened to be an Open House when Oracle took me, and it was so awesome to be able to go inside. She was thrilled too. I plan on doing aby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Here is a list I found. Balthazar would be my pick, only because I have heard it recommended numerous times on this board for dinner. Hopefully others will chime in. Good luck, relax, have fun!by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Does anyone in New York wear shorts? - 15 years ago
I understand you completely Marea! Men should only wear closed toe sandels in my opinion. My man has yet to get that. NO SOCKS with sandles EVER!! Unless you are doing a sport, tennis shoes and shorts don't go together either in my opinion. There are no fashion police in NY though, so just wear what makes you comforable. As a woman, I wore city short while there last summer. My sonby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Always a reason to return, if only to have a cocktail at a different place every lunch and dinner >< What is on your UB list this trip? I recommend the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Nice subway station there too (art work wise I mean)by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

A wonderful NY story - 15 years ago
Though I only check this blog on occasion, it is one of my favorites. Her blog for May 12th has a wonderful story from the Times on a NY Grand Dame, and some great restaurant history too. Don't forget to check out the murals. This little blog entry brings out the feelings of why I love NY. How funny timing is. One of my favorite buildings on 5th Avenue houses The American Irish History Society. If there were Irish riots in NY, I am sure they would have some info. Good luck on your quest. American Irish History Society www.aihs.org 991 5th Ave New York, NY 10028 (212) 288-2263by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

No one has ever written a review here for Sugar Hill, just might have to go stay there myself on my next trip. I did see several written on tripadvisor. Most good. Here is the thread. www.tripadvisor.com is an excellent way to check traveler's reviews and often candid photos.
