Bad experience at the La Quinta Hotel, West 32nd Street - 13 years ago
Friends of mine recently stayed at this hotel and had a very bad experience. Below is the review that one of them put on Tripadvisor. Used needle in our bathroom!!! I stayed here with friends according to good reviews on certain websites. Our first 2 nights here were fine, sure the rooms were a little tight for 4 people, location was great! BUT on our 3rd night, we came in...to our hotel rby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Sushi Samba is good. Don't worry you won't look out of place, my husband and I are in our 50s and never feel out of place in the village.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Jersey Gardens - 13 years ago
I agree, you don't need to go to outlets when there are so many great shops in New York. Macys always have great sales, also look at Filenes Basement and DSW at Union Square. Loehmans and Daffys are good as well.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Who are they renting through, it sounds very weird to be renting out a brownstone for a week? Beware there are a lot of scams with rentals, I would hate to think that they will arrive and find that the property doesn't exist. It has happened to others.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Another place to get a great view of the Mnhattan skyline is from Hoboken New Jersey, you catch the Path train across from Manhattan.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Visit Manhattan Apartments - 13 years ago
I wouldn't trust it. Had a look at the photos of the 'apartments', they look more like hostel accommodation, incredibly small, even by New York standards.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Staying at a B&B in Harlem or Brooklyn? Is it safe? - 13 years ago
We recently stayed at the Candlewood Suites on W39th Street. The area is safe and convenient to the subway etc. They were very affordable, clean and each room has a kitchen, there is also a free gym and free laundry room. They had one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel. I would highly recommend them.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Staying at a B&B in Harlem or Brooklyn? Is it safe? - 13 years ago
It depends on where in Brooklyn, if they are somewhere like Williamsburg or Cobble Hill it is only a short trip to Manhattan and they are safe areas, if it is Bedford Stuyvesant, steer clear. Bayridge is a nice area but it is a long way from Manhattan.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Family Visit at New Year + 50th Birthday - 13 years ago
Basso56,is a really good Italian restaurant, not too pricey and not too far from Central Park. Don't know if they will be open but you could give them a try. They are at 254 W56th St. www.basso56.comby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Stop the sag - 13 years ago
Most in Australia don't but I have seen the occasional random who thinks he is a NY rapper, funnily enough they are mostly of middle eastern origin. They must have got them overseas as they wouldn't be found in the stores there. You don't see many baggy t shirts in Australia either, they seem to like a more snug fit.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: New Yankee Stadium neighborhood (& slightly beyond) - 13 years ago
I was at the new stadium last month, it is next to the old one so it's the same crowded sports bars, etc. I think the food is better in the new stadium than the old with more variety. I can't imagine where you would find breakfast anywhere near there so may be you are better starting in Manhattan and then going up to The Bronx. It all depends on what time the game starts and finishesby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: West side of Manhattan. Safe? - 13 years ago
I don't know a lot about shops, people, etc. I know there are some new highrise apartment buildings over that way. If you go east to 9th and 10th Aves there are lots of restaurants and shops.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Prepaid Internet plan for smart-phone - 13 years ago
I don't know what you mean by $10 per MB. I used AT&T for prepaid of over a year in NY and called Australia regularly and their prices were good and I got bonus minutes. In New York AT&T and T Mobile who are probably the only ones that provide prepaid sim cards, I tried T Mobile some years ago and they were dreadful and very expensive. With AT&T I got a phone with the sim cardby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
