Re: PATH Weekly Pass - 13 years ago
You can't use the Path pass on the subway but you can use the Metrocard on the Path. Why would you want to stay in Newark? It's horrible.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Canal St shopping - 13 years ago
If you're looking for purses be prepared to wander around for a while and be approached by people that you have to follow up side streets to then get into a van full of purses that are in a heap on the floor and are really nasty and the van is so dark you can't see them properly. It won't happen fast. You would be better to go to Broadway between W27th and W30th. Again you wby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Gay Bars in NYC - 13 years ago
Can't believe I forgot to mention Vig 27, it's a great bar that is gay/straight friendly. The guy that owns is a friend of mine, another Aussie, and he set it up as a gay friendly place that is also the sort of place that you can take your mother. They have great floor shows. www.vig27.com It's on E27th St near Madison Ave.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Like Oracle, I am concerned that you will arrive in NY with a baby and find that the apartment that you are renting does not exist. Have you payed all the money 'up front' or will you pay the balance on arrival?by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Check out Candlewood Suites on W39th Street, near 9th Ave. I stayed there in June, very clean, comfortable, with kitchen and free laundry and gym.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Taxi question - 13 years ago
The Supershuttle can take a long time as they are taking a number of people to different locations. Also they charge per person, so if there are 2 or 3 of you it isn't that much less than a taxi.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Gay Bars in NYC - 13 years ago
Gym Bar on 8th Ave, between 18th and 19th Sts, is a gay sports bar and is good for both gay and straight. My husband, daughter and I have been there a number of times as our son is a bartender there. He and at least two of the other bartenders are straight.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Bad experience at the La Quinta Hotel, West 32nd Street - 13 years ago
Apparently this an Applecore hotel and management replied to my friends reviews on Tripadvisor. They were either lying or had been lied to by the manager. They inferred that my friends had brought the 'sealed, packed and unused' syringe in and tried to get free nights. It was used, not sealed, etc, my friends took photos to prove it. They said they had insisted on free nights, totalby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Do you mean safe as an illegal rental or safe as the area? Personally I would be more worried about it being an illegal rental.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: 1st timers in new york - 13 years ago
The bars around Times Square don't have much atmosphere and are full of tourists. The only one which is one of the originals still left is Jimmy's Corner, it's at 140 W44th Street, between Broadway and 6th Ave. Google it and you will learn more. Another that you may enjoy is the Village Underground on W3rd Street, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights they have an amazing liveby Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Anna, most of those shops still exist. Manhattan Mall has been totally overhauled and there is a JCPenney there now as well as many individual shops so it is probably still worth a look.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Who's going to Pickle Day? - 13 years ago
The beetroot and lemon sounds delicious, I'll have to give it a try. I have pickled my own beetroot, too messy wouldn't bother now. Australians love beetroot, we even put it on our hamburgers.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

I agree with Jay, the outlet malls are overrated. Go to Century 21, Daffys, Filene's Basement, Loehmans, TJ Maxx and Macys, you'll find plenty of bargains.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Bad experience at the La Quinta Hotel, West 32nd Street - 13 years ago
Two of the girls wrote bad reviews to Tripadvisor and they were both printed. I noticed that the hotel seems to reply to bad reviews so I will be interested to see if they reply to these.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Bad experience at the La Quinta Hotel, West 32nd Street - 13 years ago
My friends said he was an absolute pig. He even accused them of leaving the needle. Why would they report their own needle? Doesn't make sense. These were 4 young Australian women aged from 27 to 31 who have travelled extensively and lived in other countries. They said they have never been treated that way anywhere.by Marea - Ask a New Yorker :
