Re: practical for a student driving a car in the city - 15 years ago
If your mom and dad are too stupid to understand the idiocy of buying a Hummer H3 and letting him bring it with him to school, then just pop some popcorn and sit back and watch the fiasco unfold. Sometimes, people are too pigheaded to listen to reason. They only learn when they are hit hard on the head with reality.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Yes, you'll still be ahead in terms of $ but not in terms of time. There are better options than staying in a Newark Airport hotels. Hotels in Jersey City and parts of Queens would be better. Since it is the holidays, plan on 60 minutes one-way for your "commute" into the city.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Unless your hotel offers a free shuttle to Elizabeth Train Station which I doubt with the airport hotels, your only option would be to make your way back to the airport - hopefully with the hotel's free shuttle - and take either a bus or a train to NYC. The NJ Transit train fare is $11.25 one-way for seniors and free for your grandson from Newark Airport. There are also buses run by Coby ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Wireless internet - 15 years ago
All mobile broadband service whether through Sprint or Verizon or AT&T is capped at 5GB/month. I have been looking at this type of service since my employer has an extremely restricted internet policy regarding PCs at work. There is no pay by the month service, but it is possible get around that if you are willing to do some work.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Right. It has the restaurant Foleys Fish House which overlooks Times Square.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Renaissance Hotel - 15 years ago
If hadn't moved to the area, that would be my preferred hotel to stay in if I had the money. I mainly go to NYC to see Broadway shows, so you can't beat the location.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Getting to JFK from NJ early in the morning - 15 years ago
Which schedule are you looking at ????????? For the current weekday schedule from Princeton Junction, the earliest train is at 3:57am and you get into NYC Penn Station at 5:22am. It's even later than that on weekend.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

I agree with Red. Wish you had set up a back-up plan earlier since it is almost middle of October. You know what your choices are: 1.) continue to pay the extortion of extra $1000/month 2.) turn him in and hope you get to keep the apartment If it was me, I'd turn him in even if it meant extra hassle.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Daniel Radcliffe at Broadhurst Theatre - 15 years ago
If you just want to catch a quick glimpse of him, and not bother him with autograph requests etc, then before the show. I'm sure the scene at the stage door afterwards will be a mob scene.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Penn Station to Meadowlands - 15 years ago
Probably in preparation for the new train station that is being built in the Meadowlands complex. Once that is completed, the bus from Secaucus Junction will be eliminated.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

Get the notion of being able to take a taxi out to Newark out your head unless it is Newark Airport. Taxis in NYC are not required to go out to NJ, and the driver sets his rates.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

You should be fine. I would take the subway. Do not linger after your poetry reading. Get out and go straight to the subway. the 4th Street station will work best for you. Latecomers to Broadway shows are extremely annoying. It is best avoided.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :

If you only have a carry-on luggage, you can take the #62 NJ Transit bus from Newark Penn Station, which is where Greyhound stops, to Newark Airport. Otherwise, you'd need to take NJ Transit train from Newark Penn Station to the Newark Airport train station. And, of course, there is always the taxi.by ieee488 - Ask a New Yorker :
