Hi Diane: There are four types of NYC tourist passes: New York Pass, New York CityPASS, New York City Explorer Pass and Go Select Card. • New York City Explorer Pass - choose the number of attractions for a fixed price and decide which ones as you go. NBC tour and Nintendo World and the Rockefeller Tree - Of course, there is Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center, right under the tree and Rock Center is right across from St Patrick's Cathedral. By mid-December, NYC will be all lit up, so just about every store around Rock Ctr along 5th Ave will have a holiday display. Nearby (58th and 6th), lots of kids love the Jekyll and Hide Club (hby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Sporting games in October - 10 years ago
A few things to add to Oracle's advice...Jets have a home game and you can catch a Knicks pre-season game. StubHub is great for sold out seats...but I doubt any of these games will be sold out (especially given the way the Giants have been playing- Jets - 10/20 Sunday NEW ENGLAND 1:00 p.m. CBS Giants - Monday, Oct. 21, 8:40 p.m. vs. VIKINGS Knicks - Fri, Oct-25, 7:30pm, vs. Charlotte (Pby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Rockefeller Christmas Tree - 13 years ago
I believe the Rockefeller Tree is always lit on the first Wednesday of December. "Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony has always been the first Wednesday in December (projected for December 1, 2010) and the ceremony is usually 7-9pm."by NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Steak Restaurant - 14 years ago
Strip House is great if you like your steak "charred" on the outside. I live a block from Strip House, but as a lifelong Luger's fan, the charring is not my taste. However, others love it and they are always packed. On the less expensive side, they offer a great bar special, a small steak and fries (or something similar) for very reasonable prices. My 2 cents is stay awby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: New York in April - 14 years ago
April can be an "iffy" month in terms of weather, but there is so much indoors to do as well (museums, dining, shows), you will hopefully be able to plan around it. Here some April NYC Activities, along with a selection month by month (in case you change your plans). There is also a free downloadable guide. Hope that helps! Have a great trip.by NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: theatre tickets - 14 years ago
Hi Matt: Oracle gave some great advice about broadwaybox.com and playbill. Have you tried electronic tickets at Ticketmaster or Telecharge? You pay the fees (not broker fees, just standard ticketing fees), but you can print the tickets and bring them with you. When you say, "get tickets easily by simply asking in broadway," I believe you are either referring to TKTS (half price onby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :

Try the Best Western Hospitality House (Apartment Hotel). These are apartments, generally larger than standard hotel rooms, ranging from one to four bedrooms. All include fully equipped kitchens and the rate includes free breakfast daily. Do not be nervous about the subway - it's easy, cheap and fast. Most kids love it and think of it as part of their NYC experience. Here are some oby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :

You can download a map with all the neighborhoods and attractions here: The site also walks you through sample itineraries, what is near what, etc. Also, if the Statue of Liberty is in your plans, make sure to follow the site above and book your tix now.by NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :

The final Broadway performance was 9/13. It moved off-broadway after a 7(?) year run. I'm sure this version is just as good! Definitely worth a see!by NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :

Here is a full itinerary (with addresses and directions) covering Serendipity, Dylan's, FAO, The Plaza and Carriage Rides in Central Park (as well as the real deal on their prices). You should also check out The Highline. And if you do want to go to the Statue of Liberty, book your tix now and don't get confused by the tours that say they include the S of L - they don't incby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: NYC Museums - 14 years ago
When you say downtown, where do you mean? The MOMA is in Midtown (near Rock Center) and the MET is on the Upper East Side (the Frick Collection, Guggenheim and Museum of the City of New York). Someone submitted this comparison of the MET and MOMA museums Also, here's a list of when the Museums are free:by NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
New York Pass, NY Explorer Pass and the Space Show at AMNH - 14 years ago
Hi - does anyone know the additional cost of attending the Space Show & Planetarium if you have one of the attractions passes that does not include it? I know the suggested donation policy vs. the ticket price, but can't figure out how it works with the passes. I'm not asking about the CityPass.. Thanks!by NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: NYC events June 2010 - 14 years ago
Some of the cool things in June/July are: Midsummer night swing Philharmonic In the Park Shakespeare in the Park Since school is out and many folks head to the beach, it's not the best "event" time, but it is a beautiful time in NYC. I'll be posting more on my site soon. In the meantime, you can see lots of the big annual events at NYC Insider Guide which will give yby NYCInsiderGuide - Ask a New Yorker :
