Re: New York Minor disabilities? - 15 years ago
I rented my mother a scooter. At 81 she's trim and can walk & climb stairs, but there was no way she could have any kind of normal tourist experience. I looked into this company http://www.scootaround.com/ but they were beyond my budget. A friend in upstate NY, my mom's first destination, rented one from a local Medical Supply store for $150 a week and they came down on the Amtby jeans - Ask a New Yorker :

Marea, I agree! Last May I went back to RARE, a little place on Bleeker Street (at Carmine?). Sat at the bar and had one of their baskets of little burgers (three) with sweet potato fries...chatting with the young, handsome bartender, who was trying out for some part off-Broadway (aren't all NY bartenders aspiring actors?), and a local guy..a bit in a foul mood, who just had a fight with hby jeans - Ask a New Yorker :

Hi...I'm so glad you went and had a good time...thanks for letting us know! I ALWAYS cover more ground when solo. The only thing I would have done differently (besides going in JUNE) is, instead of going back to my room to thaw out, I'd find a nice warm BAR and wrap my frozen hands around a hot buttered Brandy! Heath Ledger's former Apt off the Market - 15 years ago
In Today's San Diego Union there was a blurb about Heath Ledger's Soho apartment being taken off the market. It seems that no one wanted to pony up $26,000 dollars a month for the three-bedroom, 4,400 sq. ft. loft. It had been re-listed 6 months after he died last January. Do the math to come up with lost revenue since he passed away. You would think they would lower the rent juby jeans - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Living in the West Village - 15 years ago
This is an interesting conversation and I am sure there are others who are following this. Eric's view is of the pragmatic local who grew up there and perhaps sees the Village as an aging neighborhood that's past its prime. The idealized views of NYC that we "outsiders" have are at best amusing to the locals. They may see us as naive, star-struck or any other label they mayby jeans - Ask a New Yorker :

I have no advice to offer you, only to tell you that You Are Not Alone! I feel EXACTLY the same...the Village calls to me and I have spent hours there walking around and going into every little nook & cranny...I want to know the history of everything...there are so many stories in those walls! Bridge-and-tunnel people - 15 years ago
Last May when visiting Long Island I learned the expression "Bridge-and-tunnel people" for those who live outside of Manhattan and commute in. (or is it a general term for those who commute in any direction over/under water?) I heard it used on TV recently...Ha! I knew what they meant, but I would think one would have to have local experience to "get it".by jeans - Ask a New Yorker :

Awesome book. Tim Ferris challenges the very foundation of the common "deferred-life" plan of devoting your life to work with the reward of retirement, way of thinking. I read it months ago and have set it as a model to follow...in fact, I just hired a company in India as we launch an internet-based service.
