News Valerie Harper also known as Rhoda Morgenstern has terminal brain cancer has left many New Yorkers and the world heartbroken. The Emmy- Award-winning actress has been a popular fixture in New York, and could be frequently seen walking her dog in Central Park over the years.
Now the Rockland County native is preparing to die surrounded by the love and support of former co-stars and the well wishes of millions of fans. “I’m absolutely devastated by this news,” Said Mary Tyler Moore. While Ed Asner, and Betty White are also reported to be in shock.
Harper who is 74 years old, was diagnosed on January 15th after her face went numb during a rehearsal. “It hit me like a sledge hammer.” Harper told People Magazine who she chose as the venue to break the terrible news of her disease. “I was terrified. ‘We spend our lifetime thinking, ‘I’m never going to die. But then cancer says, ‘Hey, not so fast.’ “Harper said.
Harper who has spent a lifetime making us all laugh is now preparing to die and decided to go public to raise awareness about the disease.
Harper says she does not fear death but views it as a passage. “I don’t have a lot of certainty about reincarnation but I have a lot of interest in what lies ahead,” she said. “Life is amazing. Life it to the fullest. Stay as long as you can. “I’ve had a good run,” she said. “What else can you ask for?” Rhoda has also made us all laugh for so many years that our hearts and prayers are with her at this time!
