City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has officially launched her run to become New York’s first woman Mayor. Quinn’s platform is to help the middle class and turn NYC into a place for equal opportunity and possibility once more. Quinn says she wants to keep our streets safe, improve schools, and provide affordable housing while creating good paying jobs in all five boroughs. A native of Glen Cove, Quinn currently lives in Chelsea, and is proud of her blue collar roots .
Meanwhile Quinn’s Democratic rival Bill de Blasio kicked off his campaign with the help of Sex in the City star Cynthia Nixon who said: “We need a Mayor that sees New York City as more than the Upper East side of Manhattan.” The remark is being seen as an attack on current Mayor Bloomberg who is a close supporter of Christine Quinn. This race for Mayor is sure to be an all out war and only the toughest will prevail.
