Most everyone has attended a dinner where they introduce themselves to others. There are the stiff formal functions, the fluster of a first date or even sitting at the dining table with family after a long absence. But have you ever heard of a dinner where you are reintroduced to yourself?

Imagination in Space X Pop Up Yoga NYC is conducting a yoga class followed by a delicious three course “silent” dinner at EAT Greenpoint, prepared by chef Nick Nauman where the attendees will enjoy a great dinner partner, themselves. The dinner will be conducted in absolute silence allowing everyone to gain a greater mindfulness of one of the most important, not to mention delicious, parts of their days. There are few things in life that are absolute necessities and can be complete luxuries, sleeping and eating are two of them, this dinner allows the opportunity to gain a greater enjoyment from our meals.

There is an importance to a meditative meal too. Eating is a necessity, but too often we partake in our meals through a mindless routine without giving thought to the sources of those meals and the nourishment it provides. Too often we gobble down a meal without mindfully chewing the morsels, savoring the flavors and contemplating how they are absorbed by our body to provide the valuable minerals, nutrients and foods that empower our lives.

One of the many beauties of practicing yoga is the opportunity to harmonize your life, body and mind. By gaining a greater awareness of your physical nature, your thoughts begin to mesh with your demeanor and disposition and your walk and your talk synchronize.

From my own experiences I realize how often I become out of tune within myself and every day develops into a disruptive, dissonant cacophony of distractions and disappointments. By taking the time to attune myself through various practices such as yoga or meditation, my life flows together fluently and increases my productivity and general enjoyment in the miracle of existence.

This silent dinner in Greenpoint offers a unique opportunity to develop a greater mindfulness in one’s life through one of the most important functions of one’s day. Too often in NYC we barely have enough time to catch our breath, let alone meditate. So why not learn to meditate over a delicious meal?  So go ahead, savor the meal, and savor the beauty of existence.

Dinner is on February 24 at 7:30 PM

at EAT Greenpoint, 124 Meserole Ave.
