The attorney for the man accused in the horrific hit- and – run that left an Orthodox Jewish couple and their unborn baby dead likened her client’s case is to David Ranta who was wrongfully imprisoned for killing a rabbi. Defense attorney Kathleen Julian likened Julio Acevedo’s plight to Ranta who spent 22 years in prison for a crime he did not do. Prosecutors meanwhile have charged Acevedo with recklessly killing the couple and their unborn child. Ask a New Yorker says there is no doubt that Acevedo killed the victims, its just a question of whether he intended to. Meanwhile in the David Ranta case, he was found to be the wrong man. So we are not sure what comparison the Acevedo’s attorney is trying to make here.
