Thanks Marea...I was thinking of you this morning. There was a TV broadcast from Lady Somethingorothers chair with lots of expats waving to relatives. It looked a lovely early evening in Sydney. Enjoy your holidays.by Karen - Ask a New Yorker :

Rita, my oven was condemned yesterday, and now I have to find one and have it fitted by tomorrow...it's David's birthday on Christmas Eve and his cake isn't done, and of course I have the turkey to be done on Christmas Day. How I wish I was anywhere else but here! Have a great Christmas, I hope everything goes well for you. Lisa, can I share your bubble and squeak please?by Karen - Ask a New Yorker :

I bought one of my nieces a christmas gift when I was in SF this summer, put it away, forgot all about it, and then bought her something else! Just found it this morning when I was doing the wrapping up. That happens to me almost every year, I shouldn't do early shopping, it's no good for my brain!by Karen - Ask a New Yorker :

Hi Karoliina, I'm from the UK and am the one of the people in the photo on the about us page( the one with the grey hair unfortunately) I found this site after 3 previous visits to NY but I have to admit, the 4th trip was the best...wish it had been around longer! I'm planning my next visit, but it isn't till New Year 2005....unless my lottery numbers come up. Getting info from peoby Karen - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: best buys in New York - 19 years ago
There was no chip and pin in the summer, and some places did ask for ID but not all. You do get the bank rate instead of tourist rate at time of purchase and that makes for even more bargains...have fun!by Karen - Ask a New Yorker :

Andy, when are you going ? If you're going to be using a credit card, the only UK card that doesn't charge a conversion fee from dollars to sterling is the Nationwide. It can save you quite a bit, I have one and use it solely abroad and on internet shopping from foreign sites.by Karen - Ask a New Yorker :
