The pyramids of Giza are just one of the destinations you should not miss when visiting Egypt.

It’s been a tough month for Egyptian travel, for obvious reasons. Most U.S. carriers still have not reinstated their flights to the country while things shake out with establishing the new government.
But I’m already looking forward to what that “new Egypt” will mean for the next time I visit.
Egyptians are wonderful people and proud of their history. As our guide once told us, “We are not Muslim. We are not Christian – We are Egyptian.”
I’m not naive enough to think all Egyptians feel that way, but I do know the majority do. They are proud and most want nothing more than for the rest of the world to experience and love their land as much as they.
On that note, I would think this may actually be a good time to plan to check out Egypt. I have found that sometimes the best time to visit a country is after some sort of tragedy. I know that sounds odd, but the first time I went to Egypt was a few months after the massacre at the Hatshepsut Tomb in 1997. People cancelled their trips in droves. Instead, I booked. It meant that not only were prices good, but we had the Nile and the Valley of the Kings to ourselves. Security was better than it had ever been.
Egypt knows it needs to bring the world back to see the changes. My last guide, Hany Tawfik is so optimistic about the times to come that he e-mailed me today to say he had started his own tour company. Work has already begun on the long awaited new Antiquities Museum which will be located in Giza and will replace the outdated Cairo Museum.
Trip insurance is cheap in case something does force a cancellation. But from Alexandria to Aswan, Egypt brings memories like no other place.
