“Land that I Love” – New Year, 2020

Here and there is a terrifying tear,
the woven cloth is being torn in twain
and mutual contempt and disdain
are all we have agreed upon this year.
At every point there is distressing tugs
and no one knows where it began,
the unraveling started everywhere and then
antagonism rends in ripping runs.
Perhaps we cannot agree on the source
but we may all help to divert the course.
Each of us stand in our own position
and only here is where the tear may stop
and from every individual spot
the fabric may begin to mend again.
