In a move that would make the late Estee Lauder proud, her son Leonard Lauder 80, is donating a collection of Cubist art to the Metropolitan Museum with an estimated value of One Billion Dollars. Now that’s gift giving. The treasure’s include 33 Picassos, 17 Braques, 14 Legers, and 1 work by Gris. Met director Thomas Campbell is understandably delighted delighted by the gift which he believes will make a tremendous difference to the Fifth Avenue Museum. “Leonard’s gift is truly transformational.”  The Met called the pieces “One of the most significant groups of Cubist art ever assembled. The treasures which Met visitors will be able to delight in include: Picasso’s “Woman in an armchair,” “Oil Mill” and “The Fan. “Leonard Lauder says: “This is a gift to the people of New York, and those from around the world who come to visit our great art institutions.” Certainly a great gift, from a great New Yorker and at Ask a New Yorker we say Thank you!
