Take a close look at the photograph you see. It is someone who is known as Kai the hatchet wielding hitchhiker who shot to fame after appearing on a news broadcast.
Now authorities in New Jersey and surrounding States are hunting for him after a man was found dead last Monday.

Kai’s real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary and he has been charged with murder. He is also considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Authorities say that on Tuesday McGillvary had written that he had been “drugged [and] raped” in a post on his Facebook page. “What would you do?,” he asked his 2,500 followers. A warrant for his arrest has now been issued but Police say his whereabouts are ‘unknown.’ A $5000 reward is being offered for any information leading to his arrest.

The investigation began after Joseph Galfy was found dead in his home in Clark, New Jersey and an autopsy determined that Galfy had died as a result of blunt force trauma,

McGillvary received attention after giving a vivid account of how he used a hatchet to stop an assault in Fresno, California, in February earlier this year. Giving his name only as Kai, the 24-year-old told reporters that he had been hitching a ride with a man who he said had deliberately driven into a pedestrian.

McGillvary said the driver had then got out of the car and attacked a woman passerby. At that point, McGillvary said he had reached for his hatchet and intervened, stopping the attack. Why he was carrying a hatchet still seems to be a mystery.

McGillvary has also risen to web stardom after appearing on Jimmy Kimmel’s show  and thousands of followers flocked to a Facebook page under the name Caleb Kai Lawrence Yodhehwawheh, which is said to be updated by the hitchhiker.

Union County prosecutor Theodore J Romankow said McGillvary had cut his hair in an attempt to alter his appearance. He was last seen at a light rail station in Haddonfield, New Jersey, area,  If you see him call 9/11 this man is dangerous and may very well be in the New York area now.
