Billy Joel, is a great performer but his remarks about 9/11 are extremely offensive to the many people who really suffered as a result of that tragedy. The singer went into rehab for his alcohol problem in 2005 and now in an interview with the New York Times he reveals how 9/11 turned him to drink. Were you or your loved ones in the buildings or on those planes Billy?
In a wide-ranging interview Joel insisted that the spate of accidents in two preceding years was not caused by his heavy consumption of vodka, his alcohol of choice.

“I was kind of in a mental fog, and it had nothing to do with the booze,” he told The New York Times.

“My mind wasn’t right. I wasn’t focused. I went into a deep, deep depression after 9/11.

“9/11 just knocked the wind out of me, and I don’t know even now if I’ve recovered from it. It really, really hurt that man could do that to man.

“And then there was a break-up with somebody, and it took me a while to get me back on my feet again … I used booze as medication.”

Reality check Billy, 9/11 hurt everyone, especially the firefighters, first responders, people in the Twin Towers, people onboard the aircraft and of course all of their loved ones that have been left behind. Yet, in true stoic nature do we hear any stories of pain from the children without fathers, sisters without brothers, mother’s without sons and all those who suffered?

There is truly nothing worse than a celebrity linking themselves to a tragedy of monumental proportions and sharing their pain when so many other people suffered so much.

Billy just stick to the songs Piano man.
