Ask a New Yorker: What’s going on?

Anna: I’m having a 16 hr. day so I’m going to be working the whole day and all night.

Ask a New Yorker: What kind of work do you do?

Anna: I’m a bartender.

Ask a New Yorker: Favorite drink?

Anna: Sex on the Beach. 2/3 oz. Schnapps, peach
• 1 1/3 oz. Vodka
• 1 1/3 oz. Cranberry Juice
• 1 1/3 oz. Orange Juice
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass filled with ice.

Ask a New Yorker: You’re from?

Anna: Russia.

Ask a New Yorker: What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you in your life?

Anna: I would have to say arriving to New York and staying to live here because it was just a vacation. I came here for three months and I decided to stay. That’s the craziest thing. Especially considering where I come from I would never think I would end up in New York.

Ask a New Yorker: Where in Russia?

Anna: Siberia. It really is not as bad as everyone imagines. It’s not cold the whole year. It’s pretty hot in the summers.

Ask a New Yorker: New York is… fill in the blank.

Anna: New York is a lot of stuff to do. It’s a lot of fun but not a lot of free time. New York is a lot of work and a lot of opportunities.

Ask a New Yorker: What’s your Christmas wish list?

Anna: To be honest nothing material. I think I have everything I want to have. But I would like to have more free time to spend with my friends because I don’t get to see them that often.

Ask a New Yorker: Do you have a New Yorker that you especially admire?

Anna: Yes, absolutely, it’s my teacher. I go to belly dancing school. Her name is Sera a Solstice She is like my idol, my guide, my teacher and I’m totally fascinated by her.

Ask a New Yorker: Do you need a pole to Belly dance?

Anna (laughs) absolutely not; it’s just a style of dancing a very ancient dance originating in Turkey, Egypt and India. It’s very authentic.

Ask a New Yorker: Love your coat.

Ann: It’s from Siberia.

Ask a New Yorker: It’s very North Pole-esque. What are you reading these days?

Anna: I actually prefer the fantasy genre. I like to read about dragons, elves and fairies.

Ask a New Yorker: You have a very distinct look.

Anna: I’ve been doing alternative modeling for a while. Alternative means I have a lot of tattoos and piercings. So I don’t fit the regulater criteria for modeling. My whole back is tattooed with butterfly wings. It’s extremely beautiful. It was custom made for me so it’s one of a kind. It makes me look like a fairy.

Ask a New Yorker: What else is going on?

Anna: I have a dog.

Ask a New Yorker: Lovely.

Anna: You’ll never guess what kind?

Ask a New Yorker: Got me.

Anna: A Siberian Husky. Kiba is his name with blue eyes.

Ask a New Yorker: Here’s your bus. Merry Christmas and happy new year!!
