Re: Dining recommendations - 15 years ago
If you're looking for a quaint little coffee shop that's fairly out of the way, and thankfully doesn't have the Starbucks logo plastered on it, try Cafe Reggio on MacDougal Street. Great cappucino, Renaissance-esque decor that hasn't changed much since the 1920's, a former hotspot for writers like Jack Kerouac, and of course, affordable. Might be somewhat crowded with NYUby Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Why is Brooklyn so popular / hip at the moment? - 15 years ago
Yes, I'm sure it will be one thrilling memoir Red. A tale of 5 boroughs. As for Williamsburg and other hipster havens, they too will topple in time to upper class families and whatnot. And the hipsters will move elsewhere, even if it brings them to Yonkers or Montauk Point. I look at it in this way, the hipsters are the frontline for gentrification. One by one, they occupy the older,by Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :

You can try Eisenberg's on 5th Ave between 22nd & 23rd Street. Good food too at great prices. Sit at the counter and enjoy. Katz's Deli on East Houston also has a decent Egg Cream, although their prices are alot higher and a hotspot for tourists.by Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :

I know Jersey Boys and Avenue Q have daily lotteries where you basically show up an hour before show time and hope for the best. Usually only costs 25 bucks. Jersey Boys has standing room though which is the downside, but the show itself is really just a concert, rather than a musical with a plot.by Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :

Don't go too far into New Jersey. You'll regret it. Satan lives there, along with oil refineries, soccer moms, and stereotypical guido Italians. I should know, I grew up there.by Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Walking the island - 15 years ago
Although it is possible to walk from Midtown to the Financial District, it is not recommended especially in Novemember when things get quite cold. That, and it's not the most friendly walk. However, there is a magical thing called the "subway" which will happily get you to all your destinations with some time to spare. Depending on where you are on Madison Avenue, you'll prby Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Metropolitan Museum of Art - 15 years ago
I'd go with casual. It's a tourist hotspot so you're gonna see people in every clothing imaginable. There's no need to be overly formal but if you'd like to be reasonably dressy, go ahead. I've been to the place in old jeans and a peacoat and blended in fine with the hundreds of others filtering around the place.by Blayze - Ask a New Yorker :
