$75 for an individual membership, but it's worth way more than that, since you get into the MoMA museums free for forever, discounts at a bunch of places, incl. the MoMA store, etc. Go here to buy (there is an option to buy it as a gift):by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: why people come to new york? - 20 years ago
I don't live in NY, but plan on a move at the start of '06. I want to go to NY because there are more opportunities for my career (interior design). There are a million reasons why I want to go to NY, but here are the greatest (aside from the career thing): - Public transportation - no need for a car. I love being able to walk to my destination! - Everything is right there - all the bby Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Gwyneth Paltrow named her baby WHAT? - 20 years ago
I think Apple is just silly. Seriously. I think that's just one of those names that, while it may sound cute for a baby, will seem absurd when she is 40 years old. But Blythe Alison is nice. Why couldn't they have just stopped at that? I really have nothing wrong with any of the aforementioned "strange" names. Well, if I were the friend moving to New York, I would want a MoMa membership. You get into the museum free, as much as you want, invitations to sepcial events, 10% discount at the MomMa store (GREAT furniture *swoon*), and discounts on parking, restaurants, and Midtown hotels (http://moma.org/visit_moma/momaqns/discounts.html). Re: Advice? - 20 years ago
Yes, it is true. Driving and parking in Manhattan is a nightmare. If I were you, I would find a garage in an outer borough to park the car, then take the subway in and use public transportation around Manhattan. Quicker, and definitely cheaper. If you chose to drive everywhere in Manhattan, you would pay a hefty parking/valet fee every place you went. Search "clubs" or "clubbing&qby Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Dig out those sweaters again - 20 years ago
No, we didn't get any tornadoes in our area. We always seem to get tornado warnings, but then they never come near (thank God!). I can remember many sleepless nights spent in the basement in past storm seasons. NYers are lucky. No tornadoes. No earthquakes. What do they have? An occasional hurricane? At least that you can prepare for...by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
