Re: location - 19 years ago
I searched MSN's City Guide, and it is not showing in any NYC theaters. It is now only in dollar theaters and the like, which are far and few between... none in NYC.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

I'm sure. It can get pretty darn humid here in OK, too. Anyway, I could stand some humidity if it meant being in the city.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

Chrysler Building. Definitely. The Woolworth building is my runner-up. And can I add my least favorite? I can't stand the World Financial Center buildings.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: metro card - 19 years ago
Okay... so what exactly do you mean by "transfer"? Sorry, I thought I'd figured out the public transport system, but then another thing comes up that confuses me. :/ Like, do you have to swipe your card again to transfer to another train or from train to bus?by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: NYC (times square) to Pennsylvania - 19 years ago
Yeah, knowing now that there isn't some other reason you were headed to PA, I would suggest not to go. Spend your time in the city & soak up as much of it as you can! Have a great time.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Help - 19 years ago
First of all, you need to get a visa. And your situation is actually very common. Many people want to come to the states, but unfortunately, it is rather difficult, especially if you are a Canadian & thus ineligible for the lottery (to get a visa). It will be best if you have family here, or get a job that will sponsor your visa, because otherwise it is unlikely that you will get one. Studby Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

Marybeth, read this: It is a way to predict the future. I searched online and couldn't find anything about readers in New York. Surely a local can help you, though.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

NY trip alone - 19 years ago
Hi guys, I have a few questions. First, my situation: I am planning a vacation to NY at the end of July. I will be going it alone, because I can't wait on my friends any longer. (They all keep putting it off because of work, money, or other excuses, and I think it's all bull, seeing as how I have no more $ than them.) Sorry, please excuse my frustration over the situation w/ friends.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Travel - 19 years ago
DYOH But then, it seems you don't know where to begin. Try calling an airline or checking their sites (what a novel idea) for rates. I amaze myself sometimes, I really do. So much wisdom. Also, you fail to mention from which airport you are traveling. New York? Los Angeles? And when? try www.travelocity.comby Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Accents - 19 years ago
I'm not a New Yorker - I live in Oklahoma (a transplant, not a native) - and I always notice accents right off the bat. If you type "y'all", I think it's fair to guess that you have a strong accent, and I am positive that NYers will notice immediately.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Parking in the Bronx - 19 years ago
Hmm... I'll have to find out exactly where in CT they will be driving from. My dad said he looked into Amtrack or something and it was cheaper for them to rent a car and drive it, since they wanted a car while they were in CT anyway. Maybe the Metro-North has a station in the city they will be in. Thanks for the advice!by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: stalleto shoe stores - 19 years ago
Umm.... I don't exactly how to answer your question. I don't know of any stiletto-only stores, but some very popular designers (not just of stilletos, but shoes in general) are Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, etc.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :

Parking in the Bronx - 19 years ago
I'm helping my parents plan a day trip into Manhattan - they'll be there on Father's Day - and I have a question. (I told my dad I'd ask you guys for some advice because I know someone will have the answer.) They will be driving down from Connecticut, and need to find a parking garage in a safe area of the Bronx, close to a subway station to take the subway in. I figure itby Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Can anyone answer my question? - 20 years ago
Could you please not post your question three times?? As for whether or not the Clintons are divorced, I haven't a clue. It would be on the news for sure, and we would know. New Yorkers wouldn't know this more than you would in Oregon, unless they personally know the couple. Why not try googling it. Just a thought.by Lauren - Ask a New Yorker :
