Hi Jon, Thanks for all the info, it really will help a lot of people (I know it has me!). Nice to know Woodbury Common only took half a day, I really want to go there this visit so I can compare it to Jersey Gardens. Did you book your bus ticket before hand or did you just turn up at Port Authority? Glad you had a good trip, it must have been brilliant there at New Years.by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

Thanks Karen, it's very hard to find this kind of information in Europe, believe me I've tried. I do hope the big bosses don't mind too much but if I remember rightly, there were some visitors from Texas... so fingers crossed.by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

OK, it's a long story so I will keep it short. My mother in law lived all over the world in the 1940's and 50's as her ex was in oil. She met a woman and they became very good friends while living in Venezuela. This woman was called Bobbie Protsman. Over the years they lost touch. Now she is going on 80, my mother in law would like to find her friend again. I have been searching thby Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Spring break - 19 years ago
I've just been to this site Marea : www.springbreak.com and dates mentioned range from February 19th right up until April 23rd!!! Must be staggered across the country. The most seem to be geared to dates in March though.by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: LaGuardia airport - 19 years ago
You can use the bus and the subway. The quickest and easiest way would be to take a cab though. Here is what I got on the public transpart route: M60 Bus (to Manahattan or Queens): (718) 330-1234 Operated by New York City Transit Authority. Connects with NYC subway trains 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 9, A, C, and D. Bus and subway fares are $2.00 each. Exact fare in coins or MetroCard is required. Free traby Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

lol, Methinks Alex has been here but under another guise! Good on ya lulurose. I really enjoyed the freedom of wandering Manhattan on my own, showering when I wanted, eating when I was hungry, shopping where I wanted and for however long I wanted!!! I was more than comfortable wandering the streets on my own and was out and about till 1am using the subway. Have a great time. BTW, May is a great tby Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

Hi Jon, Good to see you had a great time and arrived home safely. Who did you see in the comedy club and was it any good? What did you think of Chicago? What did you get at Woodbury Common and would you go there again? What did your girlfriend enjoy the most? I want to know everything! Also, what did you think of your hotel?by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: how long to stay - 19 years ago
God no! I was there 5 days and it went by far too soon. 10 days might not even be enough, it all depends on what you want to do. I agree with KM though, the main thing you need to worry about is if you can leave again!by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

Happy New Year Marea, I'm sorry to hear you have people missing in the area. It is a dreadful thing that I cannot get my head around. The loss of life is staggering. Hugs from Holland, Lisaby Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

Hiya Kelly, I'll be over in February and Rita is over in the Spring. Annemiek, have you looked into seeing the Slava Snowshow? It's on in Holland at the moment and will be on in New York during your stay. It looks amazing! I'm so jealous you have tickets already for the Blue Man group, I want to see them when I'm over as well. Anyway, Slava Snowshow site is:by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

I completely agree Marybeth. I went to New York for the first time in February and had expected the people to be as you see them portrayed in shows like Cagney and Lacey! But in reality, if they have the time they are extremely helpful and more than willing to help clueless foreigners around the city. The people in the shops on a whole were a pleasure to be around, so much different from the grby Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

Expecting what though! I've seen the fridge on TV, very strange! It's getting warmer here, no sign of snow at all. The sky is blue and there's not a cloud to be seen!by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

You'll have to get one of those fridges that automatically re-order anything that is running low or finished. Just need to invent one of those pantries that do the same!by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Cheers and Happy New Year! - 19 years ago
I avoid shopping for anything except groceries this time of year, I tend to get a bit ansy with huge crowds of manic shoppers! It's really cold here, with alternate showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow. Not nice at all! I'm sitting here sipping (non-monkey picked) tea with my feet on the radiator! If I don't have it in the cupboard or freezer, I don't need it!by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Cheers and Happy New Year! - 19 years ago
LMAO! No, it was tea picked by monkeys in China! Apparantly it is very rare and only one village still uses monkelys to pick wild growing tea! Hope the fruit was nice and the work-out sweaty and productive!by Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :

It sounds lovely but I don't think I could get used to spending Christmas in a warm country. I'm used to the "will it snow?" debates! Sadly no snow here. We thought we were having a quiet Christmas but ended up having a houseful both Christmas and Boxing day which meant I cooked for an army, but it was great fun! I had some lovely gifts (I picked them) and some really nice surby Lisa - Ask a New Yorker :
