Hello New Yorkers,
I am making a visit in sept and the people I have stayed with no longer rent out their extra rooms.
So, I've been trying to find a place to stay...I don't want to get scammed and have been asking the people lots of questions..
One girl sent me a "New York Certificate of Occupancy"
It says :This is to certify that the person whose name appears above is a legitimate member of the "New Your Landlord Association"
it goes on a little after that, but, is this real...New Your?
wondering if anyone knows anything about this.
thank you very much.

Here's a link to the NYC buildings information site, where you can look up the property to see its Certificate of Occupancy.
[a810-bisweb.nyc.gov]
Be aware that it's illegal to rent an apt. for fewer than 30 days. While you wouldn't face a penalty for it, if it's been reported you likely will not be able to gain entry.
But it sounds like you're being scammed!
