spending a night NY bus stop

I plan to take a bus which will leave me at Port Authority Bus terminal at 12 midnight. I would want to wait there until morning dawns to start on my one day trip to NY. Is the bus terminal a safe enough place to be between midnight and morning dawn. What time is it safe to start moving out?

It might be sleazy looking, but there's lots of security, so you'll be safe. I'm not sure it's a good plan though. There's no place for you to sleep in the bus terminal, so you will have to stay awake the whole night. Wouldn't that put a bit of a damper on your tour plans the next day?

I agree with Oracle, it's not a nice place but it's not unsafe. I would hate to spend a night there, yuck.
