[www.nytimes.com] after my girlfriend and I decided to rent a New Hampshire summer house together in 2007, we made a vexing discovery: Internet access wasn’t going to be possible. We could get it, sure, but balked at the one-year contract required. We couldn’t justify the expense and decided we would do without: surely our three acres of apple trees and old stone walls and wooded walks would offer ample distraction.
And yet, when news of our decision reached friends and family, it....

Funny, well-written story about internet withdrawal.
I have to go to Baja to unplug. Once took a ten day trip to see ancient cave paintings. Half way though the trip I was asked what day it was. It took maybe a full 15 seconds and counting on my fingers to arrive at the answer, "I think it's Saturday". Weird feeling.
