Manhattan to JFK late at night-- will cabs do it?

Posted by colette
Hi there,

We're coming in to New York for a concert later this month. I can't take much time off work, so we're flying out of JFK first thing the next morning. I'm considering booking a hotel near the airport so we can just get up and go, but my husband is worried about whether a taxi will go out to JFK fairly late (probably in the midnight-2AM range).

Any thoughts or experiences that would be helpful would be most appreciated!
That's a pretty nice fare for a cab at that time. They'll be delighted.

You'll find cabs but like Eric said, the price will probably be quite high at those hours and traffic is just as spotty. Take a train instead, subways run at all hours but if you can do it before 1AM, take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station and then hop the Long Island Railroad to midtown Manhattan.

thanks for the info-- I've lived places where cabs would just refuse to do a late one-way run so it's good to know that it's an option.

blayze, isn't it a fixed $45 fare to/from JFK?
