The biggest hit of this trip in taking my 80 yr.old mom around New York was the Chelsea Market Tour. First of all..the market decor along with the artwork is unique in itself...it's gorgeous, creative and there's something to look at in every corner. It is located in the old National Biscuit Company building - AKA Nabisco.
The cost was $40 per person...reservations must be made way in advance as they are always sold out. Groups are limited to 16 people. It was worth every penny. Our guide was Samson...he was funny & knowledgable (and really catered to my mom in her scooter). We tasted our way through almost every shop. Then they take you out around the block for visits to restaurants Del Posto & Morimoto and a history lesson about the meat-packing industry. It lasted just over 3 hours. Very well done.
