Hey, can someone help me understand the avenues? Why is it 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then it goes to Lexington, Park, Madison and then back to the numbers, 5th, and then back to Avenue of the Americas and then back to numbers again?
Where is 4th and 6th?

6th Ave is Ave of the Americas.

I don't know why the avenues are named the way they are...perhaps you can find the answer on some sort of "history of new york" site...4th avenue only exists for a VERY SHORT stretch downtown below 14th street. your best bet is to look at a map of manhattan to better understand the layout of the avenues...to confuse matters, central park cuts right through the middle of manhattan (uptown only)...with central park west on one side and 5th avenue on the other.
