I'll be returning to NYC in a couple of weeks leading a tour for a church group of 9 adults. Looking for tips on reasonably priced restaurants in the area of Union Square that are open on Sunday evenings. Would like to stay away from "chain" establishments. Want something with local flavor. Coffee shop would be perfect. Upscale reasonable price. Great out door seating and booths inside.

I'd say Laut.
It is excellent Malaysian food near Union Square, and this place has the bib gourmand distinction from Michelin.
It's very good, and reasonable (dinner for three with a drink each for about $100)
