You are right,
that restaurant does not exist anymore, although lots of people miss it.
you can buy a cookbook from Mama Leone's though, see [www.newyorkfirst.com]

In the theater district there are several big Italian reastaurants....just down the block from Mama Leone's last place on 44st bet Broadway & 8th Ave is Carmine's. Huge portions family style. Only accept resevations for 8 or ore & Everyone has to be present to be seated. On 43 st near Broadway bet 6th & Broadwy is Tony Di Napoli that encourages families.Lots of kids on the weekends.Extremely fair priced.

When we were in New York, many years ago, we ate at Mama Leone's and loved it. When we were in one of the gallaries, we bought a terra cotta statue titled, Mama Leone by Antonio Forgione. Can you tell me if the artisit is still around?....I know the restarant is no longer there. Thanks, Tish Vasquez

Hi,
My husband and I went to Mama Leones many years ago, and we are going to New York in a few weeks. Is this restaurant still in New York or not? When I downloaded articles about the place, it seemed to say that it was temporarily closed and was looking for a new location a bit out of the theater district. Before I get my hopes up, please tell me the facts as of March 12, 2008.
Thanks.

I also visited Mama Leone's in the late 1950's...or early 1960's.
I don't remember the prices,or the food..I was told the food was excellent!
At the time I was going steady with my boyfriend,,although, we never married, but we are still friends for over 50 years.Anyway he got upset when I said ,I don't remember going to Mama Leone's...
