Hi my name is Megan Birmingham, and I am the Bride to be @ASKaNewYorker.com. In the upcoming months I will be sharing my walk to the wedding with you. Welcome! Now some background on me. At the age of 24, I left a fashionable career in retail buying to go to graduate school to pursue my passion for nutrition and become a Registered Dietitian.  Little did I know, not only would my professional life be forever changed, but my personal life as well.

About two years ago, I went out on a limb when a classmate of mine asked me if I wanted to get set-up with a sweet, Jewish man she knew through a friend.  To say that I was hesitant, is quite an understatement.  I don’t know where you live, but where I live, this is unheard of.  It wasn’t me asking for a set-up, asking her to keep her ears open for single bachelors, going to singles events at local bars, or even online dating.  It was truly unsolicited.  But sometimes a girl has to throw caution to the wind, and let fate run its course.  I am glad I did, because that tall, funny guy  who tried just a little too hard to make me laugh (in a cutely, charming way) ended up being my Boo.  (And for the record, it seems like my grad school friend knew what she was doing: we are her third couple!)

After a year and a half, he asked me to be his wife.  Now that the screaming has ended, my girlfriends have stopped asking to try on my ring, and the congratulations from people I barely know has slowed to a trickle, it is time to start planning the wedding.  As a New York City bride-to-be, I have many harrowing experiences planning a wedding in this wild town.  This coming fall, we will tie the knot in what I imagine to be the most special and romantic (and undoubtedly most expensive) day of our lives. I hope you will come along for the ride…
