Ask a New Yorker: Bonjour, avez-vous bien dormi?

Veronique: Oui, Jai bien dormi.

Ask a New Yorker: How much sleep did you get last night, and how much sleep per night do you need?
Veronique: I need eight hours and I got seven.

Ask a New Yorker: Very interesting. So what do you do?

Veronique: We are event planners. So we organize parties, birthday parties and any type of private parties. We also do promotion in clubs. So we invite people to different night clubs. By using our name on our guest list no cover charge is paid. The name of the company is Veroslist.

Ask a New Yorker: Pray tell?

Veronique: Veros List is an event planning company. Again it’s very simple, when people say Vero at the door, at the night club that we have partnerships, you would get in for free if you come before midnight. They can meet with me. They can call me on my cell phone. I always have a group of people. Our drinks are less expensive; we can have a free bottle of vodka for big groups where we just pay the taxes and the tips.

Ask a New Yorker: Fantastic. So what are France’s top three exports?

Veronique: Wine, the cheese and the bread.

Ask a New Yorker: What a delving question I ask. Does New York have a French community and do they live in a specific area of the city?

Veronique: No, there is not a real area that they live. But there is a community that meets through lots of different events like Veroslist and French Tuesday. There’s the French Meet Up also.

Ask a New Yorker: What kind of experience did you have prior to starting your company?

Veronique: I started by organizing parties for film festivals where I met lots of people. More and more people started coming to our parties.

Ask a New Yorker: How would you describe New York?

Veronique: It’s a big city that never sleeps. You can do everything you want.

Ask a New Yorker: The French are not known for long hour work weeks…

Veronique: Well, we definitely try not to work too much. When we work too much we complain a lot. We try to work from to ten to six. We do work at night on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

Ask a New Yorker: The city is adding a list of languages to city government, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Korean and French Creole?

Veronique: The French Creole is the dialect that the people from the islands talk. Haiti for example and Martinique speak Creole. It’s almost like French but we don’t really understand it even though it’s written almost the same.

Ask a New Yorker: Very good. So what’s your favorite color?

Veronique: Purple and green. I’ve decorated our apartment in purple and green.

Ask a New Yorker: Now we’re getting somewhere. Being in the Promotional club/event planning business, do you go to many concerts?

Veronique: No, not really. I’d rather do something else. Like something outside like Kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding. I just don’t like to watch people doing stuff. If I’m the one doing it, it’s much better.

(The waitress where we are sitting just gave us some attitude for just ordering coffees)

Ask a New Yorker: Now there was some attitude!

Veronique: Sometimes in New York people with that type of job have attitudes. I don’t think she likes her job.

Ask a New Yorker: You’re lucky that your work is your passion.

Veronique: Yes. I don’t have an attitude because I like what I do. So I’m not already angry at people when I wake up. I’m happy to wake up. If I were serving coffee I don’t think I’d be so happy.

Ask a New Yorker: And who is your quiet friend?

Veronique: This is Marion, who is my business partner. She speaks fluent Italian and heads up that community. I concentrate more on the French community

Ask a New Yorker: So what do you think of the coffee here at The Tick Tock Inn?

Veronique: It’s not bad.

Ask a New Yorker: What is your favorite venue for a rooftop cocktail?

Veronique: 230 5th Ave is a very beautiful rooftop bar with excellent views of the city.
