They say timing is everything and the news that the earth is hotter than it’s ever been in 4000 years is a story everyone should be concerned about. However to release this news when we are covered in snow sort of looses impact don’t you think?
The world is most certainly warming up but it’s hard to grasp the enormity of this when we are all wearing snow boots. The good news is that the earth’s increasing warm temperatures will prevent another Ice Age but we are having our own mini ice age today, and as for the future we probably won’t be around because Global warming will wreak havoc on civilization.
Yet what’s being done? Everyone keeps presenting facts about Global warming, but we have the issue of digging ourselves out of the snow. There are studies and scenarios but implementing solutions to the burning issue of climate change seems to be in short supply. Instead they interrupt our snow storms to tell is the earth is hotter than it’s ever been in 4000 years. Well not today it isn’t!
This most recent study, which arrives when we are freezing sort of, looses momentum. Shouldn’t the scientists, (who are after all trained in logical thinking), save the earth being hotter than ever story for a day in August when we might be thinking of just how hot it is? The project led by Shaun Marcott, an earth scientist at Oregon State University, examined 73 deep sediment and polar ice samples from around the world dating back to the start of our current Holocene period which began some 12,000 years ago. Wow how old is this guy?

The truth of the matter is we are all concerned about the future of our planet but news of the earth being hotter than ever being told to us on a freezing cold day is not going to make us stand in the snow and take notice.
