If you don’t think the Bronx is cool then you need to chill! Soon the largest Ice Skating rink complex in the world is coming to the Bronx and with a $275 price tag it is destined to be very ice! The project is also set to attract both business and people to the area. Mayor Bloomberg says the rinks proposed home at the Kingsbridge Armory will house Five ice rinks on the main floor and Four others on Two other platforms. How cool is that?

The opening for the project is slated for 2018, and will create 260 full-time jobs. Ice center developer Kevin Parker has teamed up with Ranger’s legend Mark Messier, and 2002 Olympic Gold medal figure skater Sarah Hughes. The City will also receive 5 percent of gross revenues or just over $1 million a year. The project will provide a much needed demand for Ice rinks. The national average is one rink per 100,000 people but New York City has only one rink per 1.2 million people.
