AskaNewYorker: Hello Bianca! Where are you from? How long have you been living in New York?

Bianca: I’m from Germany and have been living here three years.

AskaNewYorker: How do you feel about New York?

Bianca: I love it, I get bored, I want to go home, I want to stay here, it’s just crazy. It’s a long story, always. It’s difficult to put it into words. New York is amazing. It’s like a drug addiction. I hate to say it because everybody says this, but it’s really like this.

AskaNewYorker: What part of Germany are you from?

Bianca: I was born close to Frankfurt.

AskaNewYorker: What do you do in the city, what are your hobbies?

Bianca: Oh my God! I love dance, African dance. I love to go to the gym, I do acting class, and I do some workshops. I love African music and trying to learn some instruments once in awhile.

AskaNewYorker: Tell me something more about your interest in the African dances and culture. African bars or food?

Bianca: There is Djoniba, near Union Square where I go once in awhile. There is SOBs (sound of brazil), right here on the corner, they have nice concerts going on, world music.

AskaNewYorker: What gym do you go to? You have a very tight stomach.

Bianca: Bally’s at 32nd St. Lots of crunches.

AskaNewYorker: What’s your diet like? Are you a vegetarian?

Bianca: Not at all. I eat everything. I love ice cream at night. I eat a lot of protein.

AskaNewYorker: What about this tattoo on your back?

Bianca: That’s the Ohm. That’s what I got before I came to New York City. I love the way it looks. The Ohm is the sound from Buddhists when they meditate. It is supposed to give me strength and power. That’s why I got it before I came to New York City.

AskaNewYorker: What color is your toothbrush?

Bianca: White, and I think with green or so….Oh my God!

AskaNewYorker: How would you describe your style?

Bianca: My style is undescribable. I’m just being myself. Kind of casual, sexy, cool. I love Nike. I love my Niketown.

AskaNewYorker: How’s mother?

Bianca: She’s fine. I haven’t seen her for three years. She’s getting kind of old, and it’s a long flight, and they have their problems, you know. My sister and brother are coming.

AskaNewYorker: Have you been to New Jersey?

Bianca: I’ve been to New Jersey once.

AskaNewYorker: What’s your favorite state besides New York?

Bianca: Please don’t ask me that, I haven’t traveled much! I went to North Carolina and South Carolina and I loved it. That’s it. I haven’t even been to LA or San Fransisco.

AskaNewYorker: What part of the city do you live in?

Bianca: I live in Brooklyn. I don’t want to say, but it’s Williamsburg. I like the south side the most because it’s not so crowded yet, not too many hipsters. Lots of Latin people, a special flavor. Puerto Ricans, Dominicans. I don’t like the Bedford/Hipster area. I’m getting too old for that.

AskaNewYorker: I live in Williamsburg! How are your romances in New York?

Bianca: Oh my God! They are always very short! They come and go they come and go!

AskaNewYorker: Do you think you’ll stay in New York for a while longer?

Biaca: I don’t know. I’m always saying “OK, I’m leaving” and then I end up staying. I want to learn more, there’s always something going on, I don’t want to go. It’s always more than I planned, you know what I mean?

AskaNewYorker: What about those socks you’re wearing?

Bianca: They are my favorite socks. My mother knits those socks and I have so many pairs of those at home, they are the best warmest socks ever. I have about ten pairs. My mom can knit about a pair per day.

AskaNewYorker: What is your description of a New Yorker?

Bianca: Always busy, working at least three different jobs, meeting with people in cafes, always active going somewhere, having breakfast outside, going to the gym…

AskaNewYorker: And you don’t think yourself a typical New Yorker?!

Bianca: I don’t have three jobs, I have just one job. I am still kind of more laid back, I’d say. I also like to do nothing sometimes. I work out a lot, but also sometimes I like to do nothing. I’m very active, but also I like to do nothing. I think New Yorkers are always on the run. Always busy when you call them, you always have to wait. Always have plans, always have a goal. They always work for something. I’m just living day to day.

AskaNewYorker: You’re very honest! What is your goal?

Bianca: My next goal is to become a personal trainer. I have all my stuff to study at home. I have to really kick my ass to sit down and study. It’s my new year’s resolution. To sit on my ass and study.

AskaNewYorker: We wish Bianca well with her new year’s resolution.
