Did you or anyone you know eat at the Alta restaurant in the Village between March 23rd  and April 2nd and did you eat dessert? If the answer is yes, then you need to get a Hepatitis Vaccination as soon as possible. A worker at the New York Restaurant may have infected customers with Hepatitis and according to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, anyone who ate dessert at the Alta tapas restaurant should get a Vaccination shot as a precautionary measure. A spokesperson for Alta says about 3,000 people ate at the establishment during the time period in question, and around 450 of the patrons ordered dessert which may have been contaminated by an employee infected with Hepatitis A. The employee is no longer “on the premises,”  according to the restaurant owner. So far Health officials say there have been no confirmed cases of Alta patrons contracting Hepatitis, a virus infects the liver and causes jaundice. Health Officials are concerned people who ate dessert get the Vaccination. Don’t know about you but if you ate there and didn’t have dessert we think its advisable to check with the Health Department anyway. How many other restaurants have infected employees? Might be worth having restaurant owners check their employees health or better yet maybe employees can check their own health especially if they feel unwell.
