Re: Driving to Woodbury Common - 19 years ago
The question was not is it worth it, the question was about the gettting there by car. We are going there and for us it is worth it and we are driving instead of taking the bus. Got the car cheaper than the bus. So any comments about when to actually leave and enter the city are welcome. Leaving around 10am using the GW bridge and coming back in the afternoon using the Lincoln tunnel. Best timesby pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

Driving to Woodbury Common - 19 years ago
Am planning a trip by Rental car to Woodbury Common on a wednesday during the Easter period. Any suggestions as to when to leave and when to come back in order to avoid the most traffic. I am picking up the car around 10am and am want to take it back around 7pm. Leaving from West 54th street and according to Yahoo the best route to take is by using the GW Bridge. Re: Nebraska Beef and Kansas City Steaks - 19 years ago
Found a menu for the Sunburnt Cow and its pretty small. Also a bit out of the way on Ave C and 8th Street. The reviews on menupages are pretty good though. Maybe I we don't know what to do one of the days, we could head that way.by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

So far been to about 5 or 6 OutBacks all over the US and Europe and have never been let down by the food there. This one could be not as good as the others, guess it will be wait and see;by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

There is always Outback which serves a decent steak with side orders for under 20 dollars. Thought it was pricey compared to the other Outbacks I have been to , but for NY that seems a bargain. There is one other place, the Rodeo Bar on 3rd Ave and 27th Street. Anyone even ever been there and had the steaks ?by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Nebraska Beef and Kansas City Steaks - 19 years ago
The thing is, being from Belgium myself we already have enough of those frites and steak places and was looking for a typical but as said before affordable steakplace in NYC. So indeed my quest continues. What are the prices at Carmine's ?by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Nebraska Beef and Kansas City Steaks - 19 years ago
And none of the places mentioned so far I consider affordable. Its ridiculous what these places ask for a good steak nowadays. I don't mind paying for good food, but when a steak is already close to 40 dollars and it comes with no side dishes, that is where I draw the line. I have used menupages to find out some of the prices and its crazy. But if someone knows of a good steakhouse that is aby pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

Tad's Steaks - 19 years ago
I would like the New Yorkers view on Tad's Steaks on 34th Street (opposite Macy's) and the one on 7th Ave and 50th Street. Is this place worth looking into for a decent yet non expensive steak ? Txby pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Lunch In Chinatown - 19 years ago
Kelly, any idea if the Pongsri at 48th street is as good as the one in Chinatown ? We are staying in that area and would not mind going there if you can recommend that one too. As for Chinatown, do the vegetarian restaurants also serve non veg food ? We are not vegetarians and are looking for reg chinese restaurants.by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

Call me crazy but as much as I love Thai food, I was actually hoping for a recommendation for a Chinese restaurant seeing it is Chinatown. Txby pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Air train from Newark Airport - 19 years ago
Only tried it once, but it was pretty smooth to get from the Aiport to Penn Station. Do think its faster than bus since it does not have to deal with traffic going into Manhattan.by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: visa/run to Canada - 19 years ago
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) defines an au pair as anyone going to live with a family residing in the United States to provide services such as baby-sitting, housekeeping, cooking or language instruction in exchange for room and board or salary. Anyone seeking to stay in the United States as an au pair, a nanny, or mother’s helper must have a J-1 exchange visitor visa thby pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :

Major thing that needs to be told is that she is NOT allowed to work when being in the country on a visa waiver. If caught she will not be allowed into the US for a long time and the family that gave here the job can get in serious trouble too. Regardless of how long she stays away, Immigration will have some questions when she enters the US again and could send her back then already.by pbuyse2 - Ask a New Yorker :
