Re: restaurants - 7 years ago
The area known as Little Brazil is just up the way from the theatre district. We have fond memories of Brazil, Brazil. The first time we loved it so much for dinner (they have prix fixe which we never tried) that we went back for caipirinhas afterward, perfect on a warm night. We took family on another trip and they enjoyed it too. Again going back for drinks, and that time music afterwards.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: First time in NYC, suggestions/food. (BUDGET) - 8 years ago
The Outback is a chain restaurant and I do not go to New York to go to a chain. There are so many other restaurants you can go to that are reasonably priced in any part of the city. Pretty much on every block there is a place you can eat for $ or $$. That is the magic of NYC. Do not be afraid to venture ou.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Street Art - 9 years ago
While walking around SoHo my son bought street art from one of the artist selling on the street. Wish I could remember his name. My son knew of him from the interenet. I believe it was on the same street as the Morrison Hotel Gallery.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

When in Grand Central Station be sure to go to the Whispering Gallery. It's very cool. What do you like to do in your own home town? That will help us direct you to something different to do in NYCby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Where is this place is in New York! Please Help!! - 10 years ago
Jessie, Before I moved to Denver my friends mother told me all about her haydays there. She was very sick at the time and her stories of wartime Denver were fascinating. I found a book picturing many of the places Julie spoke of. I took recent photos and put them next to the old photos in the book and sent it to her. One of the things I treasure is an evening bag she used in her youth. Alby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: First Visit To New York (EXCITED!!!) - 10 years ago
We stayed at The Roosevelt twice. First time because it was a great deal Oracle told us about. Second time because it was close to friends who were at the Waldorf. I love the lobby and it's a great location. Rooms are just so-so but not there much. Our second trip we took the train after visiting family in Maryland and had a horrific time getting a taxi from Penn Station. Finally walby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

LOL! Tom I feel for you. I am not a NY'er BUT when there I fit right in. I am a fast walker. My husband calls it my 'bus stop walk'. I can walk forever and love it. Believe me there have been friends who have said 'I really want to go to NY with you!' and in my head I think no way jose - your pace would drive me up the wall. Seriously though - I think you shoulby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: First Visit To New York (EXCITED!!!) - 10 years ago
What a wonderful husband!!!! I am trying to get mine to take me to the UK, Sunderland to be specific I recommend not staying in the Time Square area. New York has so much more to offer. The Upper West Side is a lot of fun especially if you are a fan of the movie You Got Mail with Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan as it was filmed all over there. You are in a real neighborhood vs a tourist area. Re: Walking beer tours - 10 years ago

An example would be Old Town Bar. Oracle and I believe those friends she is talking about introduced us to this one a couple yrs ago while we were there. City Island - 11 years ago
Thinking of a trek to City Island? Any place good for lunch? I saw the movie with Andy Garcia. A friend who used to live in the house the movie was filmed in recommended it to me. It’s been years since he has been back and I thought I would take some snaps for him. My time is short this trip and wondering if there is anything else out that way I can tie into? He talks about the express busby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: The end of the toothbrush? - 11 years ago
hmmm, I wonder if you store a used one (that you've rinsed) in mouthwash and then reuse it. You know like your contacts. I hate disposable one time things. If you are looking at toothcare KM, here is an intersting site for you to read. It is not in lieu of your toothbrush, but you do feel like you just came from having your teeth cleaned once you have done this and then brushed. www.oby Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :

Re: Moving to NY - but where? - 12 years ago
When I visited Kelly in Sunnyside my impression was that it was a family friendly area. Very quick commute to Manhattan. You might want to consider subletting before you sign a lengthy lease, this way once you are settled and know the city more you can decide what fits you best. www.sublet.com is a good place to check out. Re: Searching for a old print - 12 years ago
You might try www.booksofwonder.com It's at 18 West 18th and a childrens bookstore which carries new and old books, in addition to artwork. They may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
Re: Broadway tickets -- brokers? - 12 years ago
I love Broadway.box I have used it for both New York, and Las Vegas. In Vegas I used it not only for tickets to a show, but got a steal of a deal to stay at the Mirage with a view of the strip. Maybe one day I can use it in London.by Salsa - Ask a New Yorker :
